Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA couple of minor points to consider: 1) Appreciating we may just have been a little unlucky with our 4 game drives, the amount of wildlife we saw in comparison to other venues we have visited, was on the low side. I reiterate however, we may just have been unlucky over our 2 days. 2) Linked to the point above, there is no 'off roading' at all at Nyala. Therefore, even when you see animals - unless they are sitting directly on the road - the viewing opportunities can be quite limited. I do appreciate the 'eco' arguments given for not 'off roading', but, from the perspective of a holiday safari enthusiast - with just a few days to get close to the wildlife - I would view some 'off roading' as essential. The good news is Nyala does now have some traversing rights onto Pridelands (of Wildearth TV fame) and so the viewing opportunities have increased. To sum up, despite the minor criticisms above, we did very much enjoy our trip and would visit Nyala again.
First of all the lodge is very well appointed. It sits in a small 'oasis in the bush' ca. 10 metres above a dry river bed, potentially offering some great views of the wildlife roaming directly below. The chalets are very spacious and offer a nice touch of luxury without being overly ostentacious. The hospitality shown by the hosts Dave and Nikki is second to none and unlike some camps they went that extra mile to make our stay a memorable one. A good example was all of us going out for an extra night drive with Christelle (our ranger) to study the stars from a termite mound in the bush. That was a really great adventure! The dining experience was exceptional with some great food ( and plenty of it) served up by the staff with that lovely African smile. I would describe Nyala as a wonderful place to go if you truly wish to unwind in the bush. So well done to all.

BrazilI had the best trip of my life staying here! The lodge is INCREDIBLE! We saw Giraffes and Elephants drinking from a water hole behind the lodge. Our guide Christelle is the best guide in the world! Shylet and Francina cooked for us and all the meals were delicious! I don't have words to say how happy I am to chose this lodge. The best choice I have made!

RussiaWe liked the experience so much, but we didn’t prepare enough cash in advance (only the small amount we left just in case and tolls), and for us it wasn’t enough to say thanks for the wonderful time we had
Our stay and safari experience at Nyala was absolutely amazing! The traditional rondavel was quite spacious, with all the amenities and tea, coffee and snacks included. Big and comfortable bed. The bathroom had an inside and outside showers, a bath, and two sinks. It was also sooo good to sit inside on comfy armchairs with a cup of coffee. The interior was just fantastic! The territory of the lodge is huge, with a cozy fireplace, terrace, swimming pool, and a stunning view on the pond. Every night we saw elephant herds coming to drink fresh water. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, we even got upgraded to the rondavel with mosquito net as my wife was pregnant and afraid of mosquitoes. The food was beyond expectations, too! Every meal was like we were in a fancy restaurant, really fresh and delicious. The portions were so big we couldn’t eat everything. Safari with our guide Nicholle was absolutely amazing. She is a real animal pathfinder! We saw 4 out of big-5, as well as many birds, giraffes, hares and even tortoises! We will never forget how we were chasing buffalo family! It is also valuable that we were offered an extra safari every time there was info about nearby animals. We really appreciate the professionalism of Nicholle

South AfricaThe only drawback that I have will be the fact that we had to leave our vehicle right outside the main gate of the the resort “30 minutes drive far” . We stayed at Nyala sands and just about 500m down the road lies Nyala lodge and their guests could bring their vehicles in, that was a little mind boggling. I might be wrong but they belong to the same owner.
The view were great looking out onto the river. The total quietness with only the sound of nature was great. Nicolene the guide we really enjoyed her knowledge and friendliness. The staff we very friendly and helpful all the time and the meals were very tasteful and well prepare hats of for the ladies in the kitchen.

South AfricaNothing.
The safari setting, ambiance and facilities exceeded our expectations and allowed us to switch off and relax. We were also lucky to get a lodge upgrade. The Staff were very helpful and friendly, and Izaan, our guide, went the extra mile to make our game drive experience special. Dankie vir n spesiale tyd saam Izaan! Alwyn, Marica en kinders.

SwitzerlandThe only thing I didn't like, that you have to pay extra for everything to drink, but you don't get information on the price. They just ask you "Do you want something to drink?" pack it and you don't even know that you have to pay for it. I'd have wished a bit more transparency on that point.
I really did like it, the food was exceptional, especially for a Safari Lodge. Also the rooms where big and quite comfortable. Only, you have to take into account, that it is in the middle of nature, so by night, there are loads of insects. For me though, the fact to be so remote in the bush was so relaxing.
