Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaI feel that although it is an "Out in Africa" experience to be driven from the car park to the main venue is great, I would have preferred to be able to park my car closer to where I was staying and to have the freedom to come and go as I wished without having to arrange a lift to and from the car park by the owner. The tents are well kitted out but with breakfast being served at 9 it would be nice to have coffee and tea facility in the tents for that first cuppa when you wake up. If a flask of hot water and some fresh milk were delivered to the tent at around 7 with some cups and spoons that would be fantastic. I feel that the fact that there is no electricity in the tents should be more clearly stated so that visitors can be more prepared. The rooms are also not serviced.
I love the idea of the Out in Africa theme. The owners Ludger and Monique were very accommodating and excellent hosts. The food was fantastic!

BermudaCould do with a tin “cattle style” pool later on, the property is very well maintained and fenced off so no worries about visits from the lion you can head at night.
Incredible setting with an “Old age Safari” scene, the old Rovos Rail carriage used for hosting dinners is spectacular and the service there is second to none.

From the time that Monique picked us up at the parking area everything was just perfect. The decor is amazing and perfectly set up to enjoy nature to the fullest. The rooms are comfortable and very private. Dinner in the train was amazing, fancy and we enjoyed the conversations with Monique and Ludger about food and the environment which they both have a passion for. The food itself was amazing and we received great service. The outdoor shower at the unit was very enjoyable.

SwitzerlandOnly a tip I would place a power bank in each tent to be able to charge phones without having to go to the restaurant.
Lovely remote quiet and utterly amazing food. Beautiful deco, a very special experience. Lovely hosts. Altogether wonderful adventure. Candles in the tent really romantic. The silence and privacy is out of this world. Smelling and hearing the beautiful Zebras very close to the tent. Wow!

AustraliaA fan and a plunge pool would be a welcome addition. The ability to enjoy the delicious food and drinks on the accommodation veranda would allow guests to spend more quality time at the gorgeous accommodation in privacy.
The location was superb, deep in the heart of the bush. The accommodation was unique, impeccable and super stylish. Outdoor shower was an amazing experience. Food was outstanding, compliments to the chef.

Great hosts who took care of us so nicely. Small lodge, quiet and peaceful. Great food. Could observe cheetahs and girafe from our tent’s deck 😀 Nice ambiance inspired by the film « Out of Africa ».

South AfricaIf you're looking for exclusivity, tranquility, privacy, and a culinary journey in a big 5 game reserve, look no further. Monique & Ludgar are fantastic hosts and will ensure you're well looked after during your stay. The sizeable luxury tent is decorated to take you back to a different era. The bed is extremely comfortable, and who doesn't like an outdoor shower in the bush. The food was outstanding. Can highly recommend Out in Africa Wildlife lodge for anyone who is looking for a unique, private, and luxury break away to the bush.

South AfricaThe hosts Monique and Ludgar were extremely gracious and friendly. The decor was superb and transported you back to the 1920s. The beds were comfortable and the setting quiet. The included breakfast was superb. The highlight was our dinner in the train restaurant with tasty European cuisine and a great wine list.

South Africaneed to shower late afternoon or risk cold water
authentic African experience with traditional finishes and fittings that transport you back to a different period. The tented accommodation was tranquil and away from the restaurant and allowed for privacy. Food was excellent and the menu Country specific and authentic. The sounds of the wild and the clear starry night were amazing for a place only 80 minutes from Johannesburg

South AfricaNo electricity in the tents although they are really great. People would like to have fans in extreme conditions and also have a facility to make a cup of coffee in the morning and soak up the wild. Had to wait until breakfast at 9am to do this. Dinner Menu is decided for you and you don’t get a choice at the price charged you would want to be able to select something that you would enjoy. No choice also meant there are some meals that might not suit everyone. I would suggest sticking to a South African theme, a reason why people come to holiday here. European cuisine was absolutely terrible.
