How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

This hotel is simply exceptional. The staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful. This is a perfect combination of luxury with down-to-earth goodness. The rooms we stayed in were all lovely, and we all loved spending time in the bar/lounge area. The hotel is a great spot for exploring Stellenbosch, because it is so central, and surrounded by excellent restaurants. When we needed our car, the staff were always quick to bring it from the parking. The breakfast menu and the buffet were great. Generally one just had a sense that everything works like clockwork here.

My husband and I always stay in the hotel when we are in Stellenbosh. The location is perfect right in the middle of the town, so many restaurants and bars around but it’s so quiet inside. Breakfast is very nice and delicious, so many options available . We loved avo toasts and eggs Benedict. If the weather is warm enough you can sit in the beautiful courtyard. One important thing is the room was very warm and cozy which is very nice because of the weather in August was terrible it was rainy and cold outside. The stuff is very nice and friendly. The service is high level, they even prepared our room every night to sleep comfortable which was very impressive. You just feel all the time that the staff takes care of you. It was lovely to stay in the hotel. Looking forward to come back again.

- The gentle staff, especially towards our toddler. - The great food in the restaurant. You can eat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is very comfortable if you have a toddler that needs to recover from the long flight. - The bed was supercomfortable, and the room felt very luxurious. - The free parking was also a plus.

There is not much I can criticize. Everything was to our satisfaction. The taxi strike caused some disruptions but this is not within the control of the staff.
The position of the hotel is brilliant. The staff are very obliging, and our stay was very pleasant. this is not the first time I have visited this hotel and it is really my preferred hotel when I visit Stellenbosch.

We were ground floor close to the noise of the generator during load shedding and the bar which was very busy on a Friday evening. This took away from the accommodation as we found it difficult to sleep with so much noise. it is a pity that on booking we were not accommodated someplace else where it was quieter.
The hotel has a nice ambiance and the restaurant for breakfast was very nice. Excellent food and very good service. It is within walking distance of lovely shops and restaurants.
