Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Everything was perfect! It is a beautiful, quiet place and the animals came right up to see us. On one of the days we had a giraffe and baby and 5 other giraffes visit. The kids loved the place and pool. The pool was a really good size and the kids enjoyed it so much. Nils helped us organise our game drives. Best stay in the bush, so relaxing and exceeded our expectations. The house had everything we needed, gorgeous touches of luxury and comfy beds. Aircon was blissful. Thank you!

South AfricaThere were a few electrical issues along with a couple of plumbing problems, but these were resolved quickly and without much hassle during the stay.
The privacy afforded by the remote location is brilliant. The layout of the outdoor facilities is excellent. Continual animal foot passage was an absolute treat.

South AfricaWe loved everything! A washing machine and tumble drier would be a great asset at the house if one stay as long as we did. The laundry in the area was fully booked every day. We found a laundry in Komatipoort though.
Our 10 day stay at Pata Pata was magical. We loved everything but mostly the kind owner Nils and host Leresia. When we walked inside for the first time it looked far better than on the photos. I immediately relaxed. Thank you for everything. We miss Pata Pata already. We miss that stunning pool and all our animals. Wow we daily had quite a lot of animals visiting us. From giraffe to kudu and zebras and many more. Lots of birds and we saw those cute bush babies at night when we fed them bananas. Loved the attention to details in the house and how comfortable we were. We really felt spoiled especially with the state of the art solar system that Nils installed, a cold aircon and fans even outside the house. The solar system brought some relieve especially during stage 6 load shedding. Loadshedding in SA is a real pain but Nils tried his best to make his guests stay as comfortable as possible during loadshedding. Once we figured out how to utilise the solar system best during loadshedding it brought some relieve indeed. Oh and we had the best wifi by far! Talk about being spoiled. We relaxed and relaxed and made lots of beautiful memories over the 10 days we stayed at Pata Pata. Thank you so much Nils.

United Kingdomno complaints! just some friendly advice for other guests: - don’t use the west road to enter, it is washboard gravel - related to that, it’s worth taking something with ground clearance (SUV 4x4) - stock up during the day! the shops close very early. - beware of the animals, especially when it comes time to leave, the monkeys seem to sense when you need to take the bins out!
just had a wonderful weekend there, the property is beautiful! wonderful location, go to the Kruger view restaurant during the day, make sure to order the welcome pack and keep topped up on hay! we had so much wildlife surround us all day, whilst having a swim. don’t let the fire pit go unused either. the house is full equipped with everything you may need as well so don’t feel you have to come packed to the nines with utensils and the likes. the only disappointment was we couldn’t stay longer! friendly staff, great experiences and a fantastic view make this a must stay property!

Absolutely stunning house and deck area. The pool and the lapa are amazing. And the animal interactions were out of this world. Huge male kudu, giraffes galore, warthogs, impala, zebra and the bushbabies at night. It's ever better than the photos. Do not hesitate - book this place now!

South AfricaAbsolutely nothing. If there are any suggestions at all, perhaps more lighting in the driveway for when you arrive back in the evenings. Otherwise our stay was phenomenal
We were greeted by a family of giraffes on arrival, and soon after a couple of warthogs and kudu. The deck made us feel safe as the animals were at a good distance. The lodge was very cozy and had everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic too. An incredible stay, our only regret was that we didn't stay longer.

New ZealandPlease add another light in the kitchen. It's tough at twilight til your eyes adjust, and the car port is a long way from the house after dark.
This is a fantastic property. The most animals we have seen in our Marloth trips. Generally 7 Giraffes for Breakfast, even a visit from a hungry wildebeast. Lovely place - very secure - great pool.
