Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

South AfricaThe service / private unit . Getting biometrics done at security was a schlepp. But the way the letting was administered and the agent provided very little communication. The building is rated five star but there none of those five star touches I’ve been accustomed to at other facilities .. biometrics used at each floor and a key left in the room .. no instructions left for the stove or microwave also let it be known that this unit is not sea facing as the picture shows you have a view of the construction cleaning or servicing of the unit costs extra. And the ridge .. construction was noisy.. the windows aren’t clean on the unit either .

South AfricaDO NOT BOOK HERE. IT IS THE WORST. IT IS COCKROACH Infested hellhole. Everything of this stay was bad. Firstly this is advertised, giving the impression that it is part of the hotel. It is not. It is privately owned. You have to print your own lease form and covid screening before you even get booked in. The owner did not inform security that I was booked in. You need your finger scanned to get in but there are no sanitizer stations after touching these things. This is appalling considering Covid protocol. There is no explanation of usage of facilities that this was not part of the actual hotel. It made us feel unwelcome by the hotel staff. The room was disgusting. There was an old used sponge for dishes, the drying rack was filthy, the oven dirty. The bed was awful, sheets were fraying and old. The listing states a feather pillow but is the cheapest lumpiest pillows on the market. There is no dining table Or washing as shown in pictures. There is mold growing in the shower a serious health hazard. A hole in the door, scratches on the wall. The towels are old and falling apart. The iron is scorched and unusable. But most of all there was COCKROACHES everywhere. I eve killed some on the bed. When I informed the owner, he said that it was the first time it happened which is clearly a lie based on previous reviews that I failed to see. He had to send bug spray to use which was ineffective. I requested several times to clean the room. It was not cleaned at all. No other cleaning was done for the entire stay. The cleaner eventually came to sweep and mop after several requests. They also came while we were in the room at the end of the day. No soap was given, only a small sanitizer and shampoo on checking in. The 'city' view is of a construction site with the associated noise for the entire day. There is no curtains only a blind that allows all the light to enter so it is difficult to sleep with lights from surrounding buildings shining in the room.
Nothing good. Even the location cannot overcome all of the negative things.

South AfricaThe apartment we rented was poorly stocked. We had to fight to get enough towels and to get shower mats. In addition the apartment need work. The windows don’t seal properly so when it is windy the wind whistles through the windows which makes it difficult to sleep. Please also not there is construction next to the Pearls which is very noisy. Finally the Pearls uses finger print biometrics for access……very in-covid friendly!!! Issue cards rather please.

South AfricaThe check in process is a complete mess and you are required to stand in an extremely long queue. They only assist 2 persons at a time and all access control to the hotel, although secure through fingerprints is very Covid unfriendly. Upon checking into the room it was still very dirty (Bedding, floors, cutlery and glasses). They seem to be completely disorganised in terms of replacing the towels etc. and on some days just delivered wet towels hoping they would dry in the room. We were stuck in the lift for more than an hour on the 13th floor and after getting out of the lift we were told by the reception that the lifts have been giving multiple issues over the last couple of months and the specific lift we were stuck in were closed for 2 or 3 months prior and that she was uncertain why they had opened the specific lift. The entire area is currently one massive construction zone and the specific positioning of the rooms are extremely noisy. We would not had a moments silence was it not for the lockdown curfews.

I was disgusted with the apartment...and management was not willing to assist besides arranging for a superficial cleanup and spraying of insecticide which did not help at all...intact it made the cocroach situation even worse as these bugs seem to be breeding in the building.

The unit owner was extremely rude, the room was not ready at 15.30pm after requesting an early check-in of 11am. The staff were unprofessional and were making the room while we waited, the cutlery and dishes in the kitchen was filthy and terribly ugly. There seems to be no proper rules and management of the property. Honestly very disappointed that I spent money at this establishment, the 5-star rating is over-rated it should be 3 or lower for what you get.
