You can't drink the tap water, they do provide 2x bottled water per room per day, but you may want to bring some extra, or just buy from their bar. Some minor maintence is required in some of the rooms (a cracked tile etc). The classic twin room was smaller than I thought it would be (based on the pics), but it was comfortable and there was more than enough space for 2 people. The upstairs/ downstairs set up of the chalets can be a challenge as there is only one driveway per unit to park cars.

The views form the deck are fantastic! Seeing the Crocodile River and the animals that come down to drink is a great experience. The delux rooms have the same views as the deck but the "classic twin" room is just the bushveld. All the staff (admissions ladies, chefs and kitchen staff, waitresses, cleaning ladies, gardeners and maintenance guys) are wonderful!! Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to ensure your comfort. We tried the steaks from the ala carte menu and they were delicious but most people have the buffet and that services is very efficient. The restaurant service fluctuates based on the number of guests, but in general the service was good. The drinks are reasonably priced. They provide bathroom essentials and the shower water is hot.

Customer service, especially from the spa, is lacking. The ladies behave like they are doing you a favour. For a lodge at that price, it was disappointing that the TV was switching off every 15 minutes, even after we reported it. The rooms are also a bit dated and may need some sprucing up to match the price.

The property is strategically located next to the river. Occassionally one can see wildlife, plus the resident hippos. The breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good. The service was however lacking at times.

Bed sheets were too small for the beds. The duvet cover only covered 80% of the duvet, bed sheet didn't fit on the mattress.

The toilet was making a lot of noise, making it difficult to sleep,the prices were sky high for visiting the Malelane gate

Nothing that we didn't like.We were there for only one night so didn't use all the facilities but all looked excellent.

We had a lovely one night stay over at Pestana. From the welcome to the service and all the staff everyone was so welcoming, chatty and friendly.The rooms were clean, air conditioning worked very well as it was high 30's ! And nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thank you so much.
