Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaI like everything about the place.
I enjoyed the breakfast more , not to say other meals were not nice, my expectations were met and the waiter kept on checking us, asking if we are fine and smiling throughout.

South AfricaI believe that was it not for such an exceptional host I would have felt the stay was overpriced. I know loadshedding is an issue for lots of businesses, but at this price I kind of expect not to have to deal with no water in my chalet because there is no power backup for the pressure pump. I understand that the generator was in for service, but surely a backup could have been arranged? I was a bit annoyed that the conservation levy was higher than specified on my booking and that 2 bottles of wine that you can buy from Makro or Checkers for around R80 each cost me R500.
Karel, our host was awesome. This place would not be the same without him as he played many roles during our stay. From welcoming us as we got there, to showing us to our room, to cooking the meat in the boma, to being our guide on the game drives and in general just being an amazing fountain of knowledge was what made our stay memorable. We had some EPIC game drives, seeing Elephant, Rhino, Lions, Cheetahs, a Caracal and many more. Witnessing a Wildebeest calf taking its first steps after being born just minutes ago to small things like hearing birds going crazy and seeing the snake they were chasing off. Karel takes ownership of every aspect of your stay and excels at it. The food was great and the bed comfortable, so nothing to complain about. I loved the outside shower. The other staff were friendly and attentive.

Great time at a wonderful place We had a fantastic time at the lodge. It was like coming home to friends. There was a very warm welcome and a great hospitality all the time. It was very relaxed as there wasn’t a determined schedule. The location is perfect, at the end of the road. You can watch the game either from the terrace of your room or from the main building coming to the waterhole. The underground hide is also great, unfortunately there was not enough water that game came to that waterhole. The rooms are also perfect with outside shower. In the evening we had fantastic braais sitting close to the fireplace. Baie lekker. Carlo is a great ranger. We had good spots and it was lovely how much time we could spent with the animals. He has a very good knowledge and you can feel his passion for the animals. We enjoyed being a while very close to an elephant herd and waiting patiently for lions until they come closer. It was not like ticking off a list, running from one animal to the other, it was really enjoying the nature. For the game drives we stayed only in the Black Rhino part of Pilanesberg, so it was not crowded as there are no day visitors. Wished to come back soon.

South AfricaAmazing people, food, and comprehensive game drives! Unfortunately for the property, the lodge was struck by lightning and is now in the rebuilding phase. They are such a special place though and our stay was virtually unaffected.

South AfricaThe fact that they don't have backup for loadshedding, the is no water when the electricity is not there meaning bathing and going to the toilet is a problem and I felt for the money we paid they should really have backups. No wifi coverage in the rooms 😕 and the bottled water as well, the area is so hot and you don't get water in the fridge instead you buy. The amount paid I feel should match the standard. The staff must be trained on how to take care of guests. We had to ask for toilet roll because they didn't put enough. We were reminding them to vlesr our table .The food you don't have variety you are offered what they decide, I think they should rather have a menu so that guests decide what to eat if they can't do buffet.
The area is so private you are able to have all the time you need to relax.
