Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe roof terrace (with the pool) would have looked better with a few bits of greenery or large pot plants - but I imagine that might be difficult to maintain given the fierce African sun and the strong local winds. (It's just a 'nice-to-have' suggestion - not at all essential!)
The apartment was exceptionally comfortable and beautifully furnished. The local area of De Waterkant was just as lovely - a safe, pretty neighbourhood. The owners were charming and super helpful, even when I had problems with my credit card trying to pay them!

United KingdomNo complaints but the property opposite has installed three strong spot lights which shine directly into the upstairs bedroom. The downstairs room has black out blinds and curtains but this is probably needed upstairs now but this is not a reflection on the property itself or hosts.
Our hosts were amazing - living and working right next to the property we rented it was super easy to communicate and they were very accomadating over an early and late check in/out. The property itself was of a very high standard with lovely shaded outdoor area. The kitchen was well equipped and both bedrooms had en suite rooms. The location is perfect with the beautifully painted houses of De Waterkant and shops, bars and restaurants minutes away.

SpainGreat location, bright and airy, good wifi, strong AC. Area is very walkable with good restaurants and great cafes for breakfast and lunch nearby. (Also, Waterkant doesn’t have load shedding like much of Cape Town - a real bonus). I arrived early and the were very accommodating with an early check-in. I also changed by return date (extended my stay) and they accommodated that as well, with no problem.

United KingdomThere is nothing we didn’t like.
Everything was fantastic. It was our second stay with this host, although a different property from the last. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the Cape Town CBD, Greenmarket Square, De Waterkant area and the V&A Waterfront (all of which are within an easy walking distance). The property itself had everything you could need, was very comfortable and made for an excellent stay. The rooftop pool was a great place to hang out and enjoy views over. ape Town and Table Mountain. The area itself feels very safe for walking around, and has plenty of excellent restaurants and bars very close by.

South AfricaNot a single thing. It was perfect.
What a perfect spot. Smack bang in the centre of everything, a walk away from the Waterfront, the sea, Bo-kaap, the center of town ... in the most picturesque road imaginable. The apartment has all those luxurious touches - amazing art on the walls, beautiful linen, gorgeous dimmable lighting, a wonderful shower, and a small deck off either side of the apartment. Best of all was the wonderful rooftop pool, that overlooks the patchwork of colourful rooftops and rooftop gardens and has an uninterrupted view of the whole of Table Mountain. I felt like I was in another country. Do yourself a favour and have breakfast under the shade of the beautiful ancient tree at The Charles, 100m down the road. Thank you Henk, you are the most wonderful host, we felt so welcomed ... and will be back!

United StatesParking during the day could sometimes be difficult as it’s a business area . The interior was showing signs of wear and tear . Torn wall paper in the bedroom next to the nightstand . Towels probably should be replaced as they are hard . The bed mattress was Extremely hard so much so that it felt like sleeping on a board .
Location in the village . Shops and a variety of restaurants nearby and the waterfront and CTICC also very close by . Felt like home . Great having access to a laundry and the pool. The hosts were awesome . The house has pretty much everything one needs and more. Loved the welcome package .

United KingdomLower ground floor apartment was quite dark. The curtains were very thin so the neighbour could see into the bathroom and bedroom area when the lights were on inside.

United KingdomIt's mainly a residential area so quite noisy - barking dogs, neighbour noise from upstairs (especially scraping furniture around), lots of 'every day' neighbour noise from adjoining properties from people on their balconies, rooftops, back yards, etc. We spent 8 nights here and still liked it despite the noise. The apartment isn't that close to any major attractions (apart from Bo Kaap) - e.g. V&A is a 23 minute walk - however, Uber is cheap and fairly reliable.
Guido and Henk were excellent hosts. The apartment is very spacious and well-equipped (laundry room/ironing board, etc) and tastefully furnished (feels a bit like home-from-home). Nice rooftop area with small pool and sun-loungers and a nice view of Table Mountain. A small balcony with table and chairs. A Spar supermarket is a few minutes walk away. And there was no load shedding!

South AfricaFunriture is little bit to big for the room. One of the bedrooms doesn't have airco.
