How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Central location of hotel. Close to Watefront and complimentary shuttle service to and from Waterfront. Big bathroom with nice soft towels.

There was promise of shuttle service back and forth Waterfront. One time the driver did not turn up. In the room, the supply of toiletries and towels were inconsistent

Small room, one bottle of water for 2 person, one sleepers for 2 person. Bad service in the restaurant.
I like the location and the cocktails in the bar.

Nothing to worry about, just a little issue in the second day, but it was solved....
The breakfast 😋 😍 👍 👌 and I would recommend it to anyone!! The lady who worked there was just an incredible person and amazing woman...She is very friendly and attentive to all guests... I forgot her name but seems to be she is a manager for the breakfast room... she is the best person I have met in this hotel. I have had a great time and enjoyed it...

Room is clean and spacious. It is already noticeable that the repairs were done a long time ago or were not done carefully. In some places the wallpaper was peeling off.
Lobby and restaurant are good. Personal is pleasant and good looking👍 I wouldn’t rate it as a 5 star hotel. It’s a good 4 or 4+ star hotel. But African could be 5 … ~190€/day would be a bit much for this as nothing really special up from a groundfloor😄 Gym exists, but it’s rather small. You can use it for lifting. Anyway, it’s clean and good to be there

There were a lot of the building noise, not that loud you for sure can sleep but something I noticed

The shuttle bus service that we were told ran between the hotel & the V&A didn’t turn up when we were told it would so quite unreliable. The location - we would have preferred to be closer to V&A.
The room we had was a good size with excellent shower. The pool area was lovely with nice big beds to relax on however not very many of them so not guaranteed every time. All the staff - especially around the pool & pool bar area were so lovely & friendly & helpful, always checking to make sure we were ok & if we needed anything.

Great location, shuttle bus to the waterfront was great the driver was a lovely gentleman , gave us lots of tips on things to see. Breakfast was great

Unfortunately we had the Fitness centre above our room which was very loud even during the night. Breakfast could need some improvement with taste and variety.

It is hard to say, we were very satisfied.
The hotel is well located in downtown Capetown and provides hourly shuttle to the Waterfront. The room was comfortable and the restaurant very good with good relationship Price/Quality. Staff vey kind and helpful.

The beds are not comfortable, we had booked for a double room and they got two single beds put together but the beds kept on moving and found ourselves on two sperate beds in one room so funny for a married couple.
The breakfast was very good. i love the variety of fruits and Juices. It is located in town and the shuttle to and from V&A made my trip. Rooms are generally big enough and very clean.

Water in an unsealed bottle is disappointing.
I was really concerned over the water in the room. The hotel is a decent sized one and my room was not the cheapest. I was terribly dissatisfied with the water that was placed in a bottle without a seal. This is seriously unhygienic. Bottled water promotes confidence. How do I know of the bottle was washed? How do I know If this is tap water? This needs to change. This was also echoed by another client at the hotel.

Not sure why but the water would be cold sometimes when showering. Complained twice and didn't hear back as to why this was happening.
This hotel is always a pleasure to stay at. Well-situated with a convenient shuttle to the Waterfront. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
