The only thing that I can think of that was missing is some exercise equipment as one is sitting in the car a lot exploring Kruger.

It is an amazing place. We didn't really know what to expect but were positively surprised by River House Lodge. Watching the animals (buffalos, hippos) from the observation deck was wonderful. Johan and his team took great care of us and we enjoyed the tasty food and the relaxed atmosphere. Thank you all!

Location overlooking the Crocodile River into the Kruger National Park. Was very nice to just sit on the deck by the river. Pity we only stayed 1 night before heading into the park.

The place needs a bit of maintenance.

The place is located just above the river, so it gives you great overview. Staff was very lovely, and our dinner was homely and delicious. Bar & poll in the property ads great value :) so when you stay there, you feel like everything is taken care about. After long journey you can dip into the pool with a bottle of nice cold beer in a hand and watch little kudu (or impala) eating no more than 10 meters apart. And the greatest thing, we woke up a bit earlier and went on the terrace, just to witness a family of elephant passing by. That was no doubt the highlight of our stay.

Stayed for 1 night before driving into Kruger. Arrived straight from landing in Johannesburg in the morning so only got to spend a short amount of time enjoying the facilities. Despite this we saw hippos & elephants in that 1 evening! Breakfast & dinner were included and both were delicious

Lovely place, felt welcome as soon as we walked in. Room and bed was comfy, aircon, all we needed. Enjoyed the pool, ice cold beers. Lovely dinner, even had a little more. Deck looking into Kruger a hi lite. Breakfast was OK. Overall, we'll be back, more than 1 night. Lovely hosts Christo and Johan. Big Thanks to staff as well.

Rooms and interior are quite run down and need some proper maintenance. It could be more clean and hygienic everywhere. Communication could be a little bit better. We would have wished to been informed in advance that we have to book the breakfast box before 4 PM

If you're seeking a guest house with character, this has it! The location is right by the river and I had the immense pleasure of listening to the ablutions of a family of hippos in the river throughout the night. How unique a location is that? The food is simple, local and tasty. The owner and staff very friendly and helpful.
