    A memorable weekend!

We stayed in the Gate house. A light above the stove will be nice.

The breakfast was delicious and it was great that it was varied for the two mornings we stayed there. The burger basket was also good. We loved the gardens and the beautiful restaurant. The children, and my husband, was amused by the alpacas! It was also great that we could ask for the hot tub fire to be lit while we were still in Hermanus, to have it nice and warm when we came back.

    Nothing!!

Super nice young farm, with lovely decorated cottages with wood-fired KolKol hottubs. We loved the breakfast, it's all so nice and charming at this farm. We could use the SUP and canoes at the water, but the wind was a bit too strong when we were there. But great vibes, amazing view, good location to explore Stanford / Hermanus area :-)

Beautiful accommodation, fantastic braai and breakfast baskets and such friendly people. Loved every minute. The hot tub was particularly good and the close proximity to town meant we could pop out for a lovely supper at the local Italian restaurant.

My husband and I had a lovely staycation at Rivergate. A quiet and peaceful stay with attentive staff. We loved the fresh farm breakfast delivered to our room every morning. Not much to do if you're looking for an activity filled stay, but there are animals to pet and a river to kayak/swim in. Only down side is the gravel road we had to drive leading up to the entrance of the farm, however we were told once we got there that the road was set to be fixed the week following our stay.

What a fabulous, picturesque spot by the river! The cottage was lovely, nicely designed, furnished and well equipped with its own garden. The gardens at the farm are stunning. We had the use of kayaks and a paddle board. The breakfast basket was full of delicious, local goodies, we also had a food basket in the evening which was equally good. Bianca was very friendly, hospitable and helpful.

The road was a bit rough but should be tarred in 2024. Flies were a bit of a bother but a tin of Doom sorted them out.

We enjoyed the morning breakfast basket and the evening dinner basket with our specific order. The sound of farm animals like the donkeys and turkeys is different. The flower and vegie gardens have been revamped and are impressive. We were taken across the road to the real farm to see the chickens producing 400 eggs a day. Tried out the hot tub one night and enjoyed the experience. The family shared their life change from city to farming and we enjoyed meeting the family players especially granny who is a great friend on one of our friends in Ballito.

Lovely farm with friendly staff, animals roaming around. Animals are definitely used to guests. They just want you to pet them. Nature, mountains, river, garden and their very own veggie garden. There is nothing not to love. Quiet. Mesmerizing. AND the breakfast was amazing and so cute everything you need in a basket.

Where we see potential: - The idea and concept behind the farm are wonderful, but still need a few tweeks here and there to get to the upscale level it is aiming for marketing-wise - Would have been great to have the Eatery option throughout the stay and not just on Friday & Saturday - There are no “activities“ on offer except for feeding the animals (which is lovely!). Would be nice to have some additonal options, e.g. sundowners at the nearby beach on Walkers Bay (requiring a 4x4 vehicle to access) or more kiddies farming learning options - Breakfast food baskets are very nicely done - but only few items come from the farm itself. E.g. the farm does not offer its own dairy products, yet the yoghurt arriving in the morning with the basket comes in Rivergate-branded glasses and seemed to actually be refilled from supermarket yoghurts. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and some other veg came from the supermarket, too, as showed their plastic packaging. Other items (e.g. cheese) are sourced locally from different manufacturers. It would be good to have a more coherent concept focusing on handcrafted regional products and home-grown seasonal items. I understand it‘s difficult to provide the F&B variety guests expect if things are not in season or available, but would be good to communicate this openly rather than leaving the impression things are all crafted. A “No Go“ we experienced: We received only a very short briefing upon arrival, with little information on housekeeping - solely that the cottage would be serviced daily. We were not informed that towels were not to be replaced and - expecting this kind of service by an accommodation on this price level and with daily housekeeping, we did leave used towels on the floor for replacement. Instead of providing us with new ones, the cleaning ladies folded them neatly and put them up on the heated towel holders to dry so they seemed to be new at first.

We stayed at the farm for three nights in Stables Cottage. What we loved about the farm: - Beautiful setting with lovely animals and gardens - Stunning cottage, exquisitely appointed with high-end interior pieces, kitchen was well equipped - Nice and informative manual sent to guests shortly before arrival - Food served at The Eatery on the weekend was fantastic - The owners’ son Mitchell picked us up with the tractor one morning to drive to the farm property next door to pick eggs from the chicken for our breakfast - a wonderful experience for our little one and Mitchell was very passsionate about explaining us the farm life - Dinner food baskets were great

Absolutely stunning and peaceful stay at this lovely farm. The cottage was beautifully furnished and well equipped. The farm itself was lovely, with lots of chickens and donkeys and alpaca. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food baskets we ordered were absolutely delicious and a great idea for an evening braai, you don't need to take anything with you. Can't wait to go back.
