We had a wonderful stay and awesome hosting at Roosje van de Kaap. The garden, pool and facilities treated us so well. Our large cottage had all the facilities you are looking for, a longer stay would fit perfect. Our breakfast in the wonderful lodge was great and service and hospitality beautiful. We really would recommend Roosje van de Kaap to have this great comfortable stay in stunning Swellendam.

TV channels were rather poor

Garden cottage was spotless, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very good. Very good location. Garden and pool were both in excellent condition. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Cricket in our room from 1am until morning….no sleep…apparently our fault as we left the door open when we checked in waiting for the owner to come back with pool towels…which didn’t come. We have travelled to many countries and stayed in many types of garden rooms and hotels and have never had an issue or been blamed for opening a door! When we advised the owner and played the recording and told her she couldn’t rent the room out until she resolved the problem, she effectively blamed it on us as per above. We weren’t/ didn’t ask for money back etc…a polite apology and a bit of empathy would have gone a long way, especially as we were driving along the garden route the next day. Customer service was poor.

TV only had SABC 1 on, for all the other channels, one has to pay. Has never experienced this before. No Bracket behind TV to turn TV, to be able to watch from the bed. Needed extra waste bin in the room, only one in bathroom. Needs decaffeinated coffee in room. Also small tubs of milk. Only Cremora available. Maybe a variety of tees. Maybe even a few rusks and fruit. Would expect at least a small refrigerator and aircon in the room, for the amount we paid. It was a very hot weekend and we had nowhere to keep our water and drinks cold. Parking bays were not clearly marked. We had to stand on different, even unmarked areas, each time. The Gate to the premises were standing open a lot of times, so felt security was not always up to standard. We know that cannot always be guaranteed, but what is the use then of the remote control we were given. We are not fussy or complaining people, but for the amount we paid and the 4-Star rating the facility has, we would have expected more. The TV was really an issue. We had to go to a nearby restaurant to watch a rugby game, between 2 well-known teams, on the Saturday evening, because there were no sport channels on the TV available.

Breakfast-Very good. Advised them also to serve decaffeinated coffee and hot milk. Liked the gardens, facilities, cleanliness and the tranquility. Staff very friendly.

There was very little parking facilities. The light in our bathroom was very poor and the hot water was so hot that it was dangerous.

room had a nice fireplace which we wanted but were told not to use. we also had some ant alleys at one of the window sills and the furniture in front with the tea cooker (also some dead ones they could have removed). i thought when i bookrd i had seen information they also run a restaurant, and also the information guide in the room mentions the oen restaurant (open for dinner only) - but reading older reviews this ceased to operate already months ago. wonder why they have not updated the infos accordingly. luckily a good restaurant was nearby.

No bar or restaurant for lunch of evening. The room we had was rather small and dark with shabby “antique “ furniture. Bathroom facilities poor, with no privacy.

As above , the property was understaffed.....one very willing person, Patience, at reception , cooking breakfast serving coffee irrigating the garden and cleaning the pool ! No senior management ever appeared.

The breakfast was poor as the buffet was very limited and with only one person serving everyone the staffing was inadequate. No orange juice...yoghourt only on request the second morning and white bread for toasting mouldy on the first day. The cooked part of the breakfast was average.

There was not a restaurant facility (besides for breakfast) as advertised on the website. This was one of the deciding factors for us.

Patience's welcome was excellent. Place is beautiful and clean. Pool close to accommodation. Gym.

Unfortunately the behaviour and attitude of the owner/manager towards both his own staff as well as the guests, mange’s to spur our experience completely, to the point that we would not consider using this place again and would not recommend to others. His behaviour was abusive towards his staff and to guests to the point where one wonders if he should be in the service business at all.

It is a really nicely appointed place set in lovely surroundings. The staff (except for the owner/Manager) were very service minded, friendly and helpful.

We thought we had a braai inside apartment when we booked. The TV was broken and was replaced late Friday night. The host was unfriendly. There should be directions to the breakfast area - struggled to find the entrance.
