The property is clean and quiet. Very relaxing . The staff was very friendly. Food was absolutely amazing and on time. Loved everything about the property. Because we went to celebrate my husband’s birthday, the staff went all out to prepare complimentary cupcakes and surprised my husband and sang for him.

Amazing staff, couldn’t have been better. Very attentive and every detail is thought of. Absolutely stunning location. Rooms and facilities were to a very high standard and exceeded our expectations. Safari guides very very knowledgeable and experienced. Loved every minute of our stay and very sad it came to an end. The food is 10/10 - be prepared to eat A LOT of very good food. Would recommend the horse back riding safari. Our favourite part! We felt very safe during our stay.

Not one single thing

We were greeted with the warmest welcome by all staff. This set the tone for the entire trip and everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were beyond comfortable. The tents are charming and added a magical touch to sleeping under African skies. Pool was often surrounded by animal visitors throughout the day. Have never swam with a giraffe before! Safari Plains is an exceptional experience.

Two small things if I really need to nitpick were- Previously we were supplied with little blankets and flasks on chilly mornings. I would have appreciated that on this trip as well. Our one tent's WiFi signal wasn't strong enough to send even just a message.

Everyone was incredible every step of the way. I have never experienced such attention to detail to how our rooms, or tents in this case, were prepared for us. They very quickly picked up on our habits and arranged our things accordingly instead of just neatly as one example. We were just as excited to see what we we're going to find in our tents as we were to see what we were going to see on our game drives. The same for the constant surprises for meals and snacks.

The food was hit and miss unfortunately, some meals (the mexican food) was incredible whilst the Lamb roast was dry and the carpaccio was flavourless. I also would have liked to see more authentic African dishes, I would have preferred standard good food instead of themed dishes. The only other thing that I felt was amiss was that there was definitely an accommodation for children when it came to food and the sleeping arrangements but not much in the way of activity, a beautiful (even hidden) jungle gym or outside play area would have gone a LONG way to making my stay perfect.

Safari Plains is an absolute TREAT!! The rooms are exquisite, the staff are all friendly and helpful, lodge is beautiful, animals literalyl at your doorstep, this resort is as close to perfect as I can image! We requested an alternate time for dinner as our daughter is young and the first night was challenging with a 19h00 dinner start time - they accommodated us with no fuss whatsoever.

When it rains - the road leading up to the lodge has big pools of water. Make sure you have at least a SUV although normal sedan can make it too…steering through the obstacles.

Only 2 hours out of Johannesburg, perfect for a few nights out of town. The Lodge is well kept and staff super friendly and always willing to assist. The variety of food on offer throughout the day will not leave you hungry. They have a beautiful wine cabinet on display - really enjoyed “Circumstances “ from Waterkloof Wine Farm. Beautiful, memorable…love the tented rooms, absolutely luxurious. Also had good sightings.

The stay was SO restful! We only had two nights to spend but it felt like a week away! The food was delicious as always and the game viewing remains a highlight to this day - especially when we found the lions only a few meters away. We'll come back every year for a short break with service and rest that makes it feel like a week!

The Bruch was very thick so spotting animals like Lion, leopard or cheetah was challenging but we did manage to see lots of other animals.

Food was amazing from Breakfast to Dinner, the Spa was very nice. Kenny the waiter was exceptional always making sure you are taken care off.

The lodge does cater for larger groups so can be quite busy at times and staff are more attentive to the groups. Majority of our meals were buffet meals outdoors which is beautiful but where they set up there are a lot of bees & for someone who is allergic to them this is not ideal, just meant I didn’t get to see the full menu or eat much as I didn’t want to get stung. They moved all the shaded pool loungers quite early in the day to set up for the outdoor dining, only leaving some on the sunny side of pool.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly. A special mention to Andrew who is the most attentive barman I have ever met, always checking to see if he could get us anything and making sure we were ok. I can not speak highly enough of Andrew, he was so friendly & just had a loving persona, he would make anyones day just with his smile, laugh and friendly vibe. The rooms were very comfortable & the bed is one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. The double hanging egg chairs on the rooms balcony was the best idea we have seen in a lodge, so relaxing and comfortable that we will now be buying one when we get home. The food was great and the inclusive drinks were what we normally drink - wines, beers, ciders, spirits. Even a mini bar in the room which I’m sure you can top up anytime but we didn’t need to. The game drives were good, animals were few and far between only seeing 2 of big 5 but just being in the parks is enough for us as we have done plenty of game drives and just making our way through all the parks.

The food, the beautiful cabin and the surroundings are superb but by far, the personalised attention to detail is unmatched. Each guest is catered to as if they are family and it's honestly spectacular to experience. This was our second visit and there is always a danger that an establishment will not live up to the previous experience but 4 years later and nothing has changed in terms of the quality and experience.
