Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed in cottage number 1. It was very clean and comfortable. Loved its location, great views all around. The swimming pool was very welcoming, set amongst the vines, and the gallery at the vineyard was superb. We will be back.

South AfricaA bit of a missed opportunity. It is in a beautiful setting nestled in vineyards, but could have been better. In wine terms this accommodation is Provenance range not quite Saronsberg Range. Tips for the management. Take out those Steiner hygiene equipment, it is only fit for public bathrooms and has no place in luxury accommodation. Get backup power, at least for a few lights and the wifi, load shedding is not going away. The open hanging space for your clothing is not ideal.
Well equipped kitchen, beautiful views of the vineyards and the mountains. Had an issue with the plumbing that got sorted by a very helpful Luciana. Very generous with the coffee capsules and water bottles.

South AfricaThe views, the amenities, the swimming pool with a view, the location right close to town - couldn't have asked for a better stay in Tulbagh. The beds were extremely comfortable, everything was clean and the air conditioner was turned on before arrival. Contactless check-in made everything so easy, and the wine tasting area is super close to the cottages!

South AfricaI would prefer a baby pool, not sure if the place gets a lot of families. The mirror in the bathroom I would have liked it to be a bit lower as I could not see anything as I'm a bit short.
I loved everything of the place luciana and anneline was such a great help and hosts I would definitely come back again it was everything and more,i would recommend anyone wanting a relaxed and peaceful breakaway I would say this is a selfcating hotel.

South AfricaThe water pressure was not great in our cottage. The mini stove top was also very slow. WiFi was also limited/weak but that’s ok for a getaway.
The location and views around the estate are beautiful. The cottages are really well equipped with outdoor braai and indoor braai which was great and rare to find! Bed was super comfy too

South AfricaLoadshedding is prevalent and must be considered. As the cottages are self-catering and electric- this means no cooking unless one braais. I would advise a spare gas cylinder/hob for cooking/boiling water. We booked 3 cottages ~ 2 far from main building and quiet. Unfortunately, our luxury 1 bed cottage was near the winery- which meant the huge generator kicked on (stage 4/6)- and was unpleasantly loud in this cottage during the day and woke us during the nights. I would suggest at least on the closest 4 cottages -to connect their electricity supply - so the aircon can drown out the genset.
Location gorgeous in the Tulbagh valley - and beautifully spaced cottages, well equipped with king size/ single beds, beautiful linen / furniture and braai facilities. We had a lovely wine tasting in the beautiful winery setting. We also used the pretty pool facilities which have pool towels on location. Staff were friendly and helpful.

United Kingdom*Load shedding was a pain and meant no wifi or ability to cook for a few hours a day, but I appreciate that was outside of the control of Saronsberg. The generator for the cellar was noisy when it kicked in and could be heard in the cottage and by the pool. *More food served at the tasting room would be good.
*Beautiful and clean cottages with everything you could possibly need to self cater (indoor and outdoor braai, micro, oven, hob, large fridge, lots of utensils and plates/glasses etc). *The linens/towels and toiletries were all of a high standard. Lovely little touches like a bottle of wine and some biscuits. *The WiFi was decent *The pool area was a little small and filled up quickly, but the loungers were comfortable, pool towels were provided and views of the surrounding mountains were beautiful. *The tasting room was in a gorgeous setting and 9 different wines could be tasted. Opening hours are limited and no meals are served (just a cheese platter) so take your own picnic. *Staff were all very friendly and engaging. We felt very well looked after

South AfricaWould love a restaurant on the property (like there once was) to have light lunches.
The setting is amazing! Wonderful swimming pool set between the vineyards….rolling lawns for kids to play on. If you looking for an escape to the country with amazing wines at your doorstep this is the place. Saronsberg wines are fab! The cottage is basic but has all the amenities you need, comfy bed, fridge, aircon, braai facilities, indoor fireplace for winter etc. No TV which we love so no distracting from spending quality time together. We have stayed here a few times and it never disappoints!
