There was very little to dislike but a less bumpy track to the accommodation would be appreciated by many I’m sure.

A beautiful heritage cottage in a lovely setting with a stunning bathroom, access to a pool and a lovely verandah. The restaurant in the grounds was a bonus. Lovely, welcoming and helpful staff.

Cottage #3 was not as advertised. Certainly did not deserve booking.com's 8.9 rating. Should be a low 7. Poor quality bed, which was not extra-wide (as advertised). No purpose built patio (like the other two cottages) - just a table and two chairs sitting on the edge of a large field! Would not stay here again.

Table outdoor needs shade. Guests in neighbouring unit smoked cigars that made it impossible to sit outdoors

The noisy fridge. No hot water to basins in bathroom.

It was close to the wedding we were attending. A peaceful farm atmosphere. The unit was spacious.

I was really surprised by the condition of the living spaces. Some of the dishes & cutlery weren’t washed properly. There was very little cooking equipment, outdated / old utensils, counter tops swelling in the kitchen which could lead to potential rotting & insect breeding, the decor (all red) is also super outdated, towels had an unpleasant smell, the lack of space to cook or use tiny stove top, the little spiderwebs in the corners of the walls / next to the bed & bathroom equipment that is old or rusty (toilet holder) left me feeling unhygienic. I was disappointed at the condition of the place for the price we paid.

We really enjoyed our time at the pool, the walk to the wine tasting & restaurant (so accessible!) and the views from our porch.

We rented cottage 1 and 3. Our comments are specifically related to apartment 3 (1 bed ). Depressingly unsatisfactory throughout, in particular the bed was absolutely unfit for purpose, but all facilities to include shower and kitchen needed change to a habitable standard. No apologies from staff at any stage throughout our stay. The pool is in a disgusting state and only on day we were leaving did a man appear to try and scrub the walls and floor of black mould like stuff. 3 bed cottage was OK but whole stay spoilt by cottage 1 and condition of pool

Nice location with a separate restaurant next door. We would consider Saxenburg a visit next time we are making holiday in South Africa.

Room was dim and stuffy. No air conditioning or fan and the only light into the room was through a small glass panel door. Patio was a small bricked area with an umbrella that could not be opened due to the wind. No lights next to the bed and thus had to use a cell phone light to navigate around the room at night. Kitchen was small and the room needs to be refurbished. Mattress was on the budget end and not very comfortable. Not a place to spend your 40th wedding anniversary. Certainly not value for money.

Description of the accommodation was inaccurate. No privacy whatsoever. Worn down. 2 night stay here is not worth more than 2000. Alarms of other building kept going off the whole weekend. You can’t see any wild game from the accommodation as described. Water pressure was lousy. Place is much smaller than described. Worn out kitchen utensils. The room is so stuffy, you can barely sleep. No air conditioning. Mosquitos are rampend at night so you can’t open any windows or be outside past 7. Too close to the restaurant, people making a noise most of the weekend. Nothing beautiful to look at surrounding the property whatsoever. Lawn in front of the accommodation isn’t maintained. Pool was really dirty, and does not feel like it is for everyone because it’s too close to the first room. And no wine sample waiting in the room as described, only vouchers. You can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms. Absolutely not worth 4700 for 2 nights whatsoever.

From the initial booking and messages with Mandy to being greeted by Leonie, who could not do enough to help us, it was an absolute pleasure. Lovely people, lovely place and stunning surrounding. Will be back in 9 days!!
