Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

South AfricaHaving to collect water from the borehole that cannot be consumed every 15 minutes from the 24-29/04. We had nothing to carry the water with except two cleaning 5lt buckets to cater for 5 adults and 1 toddler. Having to bathe with cold water as there was no big pot or urn to boil the water with for a large group. Buy drinking and cooking water until 28/04 as water was only restored after 17h00. No effort was made to assist with the situation we found ourselves in. The apartment is absolutely amazing.

South AfricaBeing stuck in a place with no water at all for the duration of my stay. Had to sort myself out. Can't use the toilet, can't bath, can't cook for the full 5 nights/6 days. Booking.com refused to get us an alternative place and imposed a full cancelation fee should we live on our according even though we were robbed of what we paid for when the booking was done. I am highly dissatisfied and disappointed with booking.com given that they claim to rate and check all the properties and facilities on behalf of their consumers which is not the case. They wouldn't have approved my booking had they done their homework. Is it maybe the issue of race, being black equates to not being given the respect you rightfully deserve.
Nothing, I have never been so appalled.

Everything about Karabo’s place was truly exceptional. He is also a kind and attentive host, he ensured that our stay was comfortable.
