Excellent hospitality, impressive game drives, good food, friendly service

The room required some maintenance to match the level of the rest of the facilities.

The staff were amazing at all times. Meals were extremely good and presentation excellent. Jabula, our game guide was highly knowledgeable and friendly.

Everything was fantastic. Perhaps the only small issue was that our room's orientation meant that we had very little shade from 12-3pm which made the room a bit uncomfortable to stay in even with the AC on full.

A beautiful lodge with all the families - game drives morning and evening with spectacular game viewing (we saw the big 5 and were only there for 3 nights), delicious and varied food options, comfortable and cleanly rooms, and very friendly staff.

The beds probably need to changed. They were particularly soft and we are not particularly fussy.

Clean and well appointed rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was generous. Spa and pool were lovely.

EVERYTHING!

Blown away by the amazing staff at Shepard’s Tree, so lovely & kind. A true shining testament to our wonderful country. Thank you, the accommodation & food was outstanding! We will definitely be back.

The head Ranger was rude, aggressive and dismissive. After arriving, we requested and asked if possible to be moved to another game drive vehicle, where he refused and got to a point where he said he does the schedule and he will not change it for anyone as this is his way. As a customer and a paying guest I was in tears and was even approached by other members of the staff and guests to apologise on his behalve, as they saw what happened and didn’t agree with the way he spoke to me. For this reason I will never visit this lodge again, and advise others to do the same , it is a shame as the rest of the stay and staff, from the front desk, housekeeping, bar, restaurant and other game ranger were all great and we couldn’t ask for better service. Sad that one person gives and leaves a sour taste in your mouth and spoiled our entire time at the lodge.

Lovely property, location, great atmosphere and 99 % of the staff was excellent, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.

Very disappointed that we weren’t informed that supper was a bush braai. All my previous visits you got back from the evening game drive and were welcomed with an excellent sit down dinner. I could go to any other Lodge for a mediocre bush braai, this used to make them a step above all the others.

So easy to get there from JHB, amazing staff. We were lucky enough to get Solly as our ranger - he was the most amazing spotter, so knowledgeable and great company!! We saw EVERYTHING except Buffalo. A very special trip! The food was really good too

The food options were varied and there were sufficient options for dietary requirements to be met. Breakfast had an array of options and was served hot and well presented.
