How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

…spacious apartment …fireplace …location is close to the beach and even to see the penguins takes just a short ride or a bit of a longer walk …Rina is very kind and was super helpful. She provided us with recommendations about the area as well as nice restaurants and coffee places.

This accommodation is very close to one of the best beaches I have ever been to. The area itself is very quiet and peaceful. There is an indoor braai which is very convenient. You can hear the sounds of the ocean and it is very calming especially at night. The weather during our stay was amazing - it was warm and sunny. This location is very close to Harold Porter botanical gardens and On the Edge restaurant which is a must to visit. I would definitely revisit this place and recommend it to other people.

This is a very cute garden cottage that is fully kitted out and has loads of privacy. The beach is walking distance away. The host was lovely

Loved the apartment! It was clean and neat. The fire place inside the apartment was a winner for windy evening braais! There is a dishwasher and washing machine which make longer stays even better! Very comfortable bed and beautiful layout. The host is very nice and welcomed us. The apartment is private. Location is perfect, just a quick walk to a beautiful white sandy beach ⛱️ We stayed for a week and didn't want to leave!

The only negative about this booking was that I booked through Booking.com SA and I was charged an International Transaction Fee via my Bank by Booking.com Amsterdam, this charge of R 84.65 was not stated on the booking confirmation or invoice. This has never happened before and I have booked many times through Booking.com, can somebody please explain. I live in South Africa not the in the Netherlands!
Everything....comfortable, tastefully furnished and decorated. We had a very pleasant stay. Will return and will not hesitate to recommend Siver Dunes to family and friends.

There was nothing not to like.
This was a beautiful place to stay. Unfortunately we only stayed for 2 nights but my husband and I did want to extend our stay but the property was unsurprisingly booked out for our last minute request - we loved the location, very close to everything we needed, the area felt very safe too. The apartment itself is lovely and gives you a comforting feeling. You feel at home and have access to everything you would have in your home which was great! The property is extremely quiet and private, giving you a sense of tranquility and peace. Rina was also friendly and welcoming - I definitely recommend - don't hesitate to book!

Everything was perfect including the house, the environment & the hosts. The place was spotlessly clean, house has everything you need, safe area, peaceful, place has a smart TV with many options to watch, close to beautiful beaches.

Overall our experience was extremely positive. Any faults that we could find would be picky and individually personal, so we will leave them out of this review.
The apartment is spacious and well furnished. The weather curtailed some of our 'outdoor' plans but we didn't mind as the apartment is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is huge, the bed has a heated blanket, the bathroom has both a bath and shower and there is a TV and fireplace in the lounge. Outside, guests have use of the braai area; a great place to sit and look at the stars. The property is situated in the middle of Betty's Bay near the end of Silver Dunes beach and conveniently close to all that Betty's Bay has to offer, as well has being centrally located for Gordon's Bay and Hermanus.

We loved everything, the kitchen and little living room was amazing, the bedroom was very modern and bathroom had a bath and shower! :D the area was nice and peaceful, very tranquil and isolated. We had all the privacy of our own home and was very neat. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely visit Silverdunes again!
