Pleasant stay on the canals

There was construction happening, even on Saturday which was noisy and I was not told about.

It is well situated and close to everything in town. It has large bedrooms each with on suite bathrooms. There is a nice outdoor seating area.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed, including comfortable bedding and clean towels. The rooms all have their own bathrooms and the kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove. There were lots of torches available for loadshedding. The binnebraai was especially useful as the nights were cold. The house is right on the canal with great views and has its own jetty. Checking in and out was easy and well communicated. Had some great meals at the nearby The Quays restaurant, which is a 10-15min walk away.

Wonderful house with good equipment. It was a bit complicated to get the keys at the Security Agency 3k away. The rest was very good.

only problem was transport. there was no public transport eg. taxi’s or uber. had to phone the hotel in st francis to hear who they use for guests without vehicles.

This is a stunning place. The photos don't do it justice. It has recently been renovated and is looking very smart. The bedrooms are large and beds comfortable. The whole place was perfectly clean. The entertainment area leads outside onto the dockside which is ideal on warms days/evenings. We enjoyed a potjie which we ate out on the waters edge. Another plus for us was that they had a dishwasher which makes things much easier. We also received our deposit the very next day. Thanks for an amazing time!

Too disappointing! We arrived at dusk in time to prepare supper but the house was very untidy and not very clean -strange because of the list of rules we received prior to getting keys and which are conveniently pasted all over the house - some of the owners personal items were not put away. -the counter tops were greasy and not clean. cupboards were smelling and dirty and lots of chipped mixed cups and saucers. cutlery was covered in some type of sediment and again one in every design rather than a neat set. broken bottle openers and cork screw means we could not open our bottle of wine.. Then came bedtime and we found the linen was stained and smelling and we had to report back to the owners the very night we arrived. not ideal to be discussing cleaning processes when you meant to be relaxing. This is more frat house with basics - six double beds two of which are in the tv room upstairs. it’s great for large group of students and young adults but not a luxury getaway which the price tends to indicate. no luxury to be found here- no tea/coffee on arrival or soaps. in fact you will need to bring your own loo paper as only one per bathroom is provided. the owner did send her cleaner in the next morning to change bedding and wash all the crockery and cutlery.

This is a panel handle house located at the back old and deteriorating property but is located on the canal. unfortunately it does not come with a boat or canoe or dinghy which is the reason you want to be on the canals.

It was clear that it had not been lived in for a while . It was musty and had a lot of fishmoths and even fleas on the beds . This is possibly due to Covid . It should have had a thorough spring clean prior to it being rented out . If it was cleaned up properly, it would be an exceptional place to stay .
