For us the bed was too hard but we will stay over again

That it was far away from any lights or noise! It was super quite and you could see the stars! If we had the time we would have stayed longer! We will definitely recommend Sunbird and we will stay over again. Thank Niles for your directions😊

The 6 km gravel road was somewhat of a challenge, but not a problem if you take it slowly.

Lovely cottage with all required amenities. Beautiful setting with great birdlife and mountains. Firewood was supplied upon request and we enjoyed the fire and star gazing in the Karoo. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Really only a few minor details. Kitchen sink would have been happy with a decent plug, the coffee plunger might need to be renewed, an extra light bedsheet between duvet and mattress covers for those very warm nights.

Natural surroundings, various hiking opportunities, beauty of the area, privacy, nice stoep to sit and relax, very accommodating and friendly hosts, cared for interior and exterior.

Very clean and well furnished with lovely stoep area to watch the sunrises and sunsets. Completely separate from any other buildings in the area. Lovely Karoo thunderstorms and evening fires under the starry skies.

The only less positive feedback: The bed was a bit hard, had some stiff backs the next morning. But the quiet surroundings gave us a good night's rest.

Everything. A beautiful cottage with all the facilities you need in a perfect location. Comfortable, clean and safe with spectacular views. Such a great cottage! Clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The kitchen is well equipped. Gas stove/oven and lamp bulbs that hold a charge make loadshedding manageable. Really appreciated the heater in the bedroom and the wood stove in the living room while visiting in winter. Wonderful front porch for lounging and admiring the view. The area is beautiful. The host is very thoughtful and is great about communicating and providing specific directions/instructions for traveling to and accessing the property. The property is a working farm and they have mince kudu and beef available for purchase by the kilo. We loved the rural location outside of Graaff-Reinet. The 6.5km on gravel road was totally passable with our 2-wheel drive/lower clearance sedan (sections of washboard are a bit of a nuisance, but not a problem). Wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended.

If you have any sort of spider or insect phobia, this is not the place for you - better to stay in town.

I cannot rate my experience highly enough. I enjoyed two weeks of peace and tranquility while still able to get necessary work done thanks to reliable WiFi (except for periods of load-shedding). Plenty of different corners of the farm to explore on long walks and wonderful birdlife. Town is just a few minutes drive away. Provision made for lighting and cooking during load-shedding. Hosts of both the human and dog variety very friendly and welcoming.

When it's load shedding at night, you can't open the windows for a breeze as it lets the insects in from the bush.

What a lovely gem? Everything you needed for a comfortable stay with the added openess of a farmstay. We were nearly caught by unsuspected flash floods but the owners fixed the roads early the next day. Lovely family. Don't stay for only one night - it's hatd to leave.

Many insects at night - suppose it is to be expected on a Karoo farm. No decent coffee - would have made the stay even better if there was!

Location is on a farm - peaceful and quiet but not far from the main road. Comfortable size. Value for money. Neat and clean.
