Great location, very convenient if you're planning to take some time exploring the magnificent Swartberg Pass. Staff and owner very helpful and friendly. Wonderful place to stop over.

The location is amazing and the food from the kitchen is great. There was no dinner kitchen when I stayed so they gave me meat to cook myself in the room and it was a fantastic experience!

there were some issues with the electricity connection when we were there. it just meant we had to contact the staff on occasions, but they always did their best to help us, no matter what the time. an isolated issue so unlikely it would be this way always.

comfortable accommodation with beautiful views. great place to switch off and relax. location was nice and central, quick drives to Prince Albert, Cango Caves, Oudtshoorn etc. our daughter also loved having the animals on the farm.

The bathroom was great, but the hot water from the gas geyser was not functioning fully and we had cold showers at times. The fridge was not correctly set and froze the milk salads and most stuff. The drinks were really cold! Woohoo.

The cottages were very well set out with lots of space and excellent beds and bedding. The kitchen was well set with most of the basics required. The view is stunning and the garden was pleasant. Phew - easy access - No long drives on dirt roads!

Location was as good as there will be in Oudshoorn. Peaceful, Tranquil with the Karoo air. Friendly staff with great Roosterkoek(the best by far). Well fitted kitchen with great furnishings beyond what is expected and spacious rooms. Well done Swartberg cottages. Well done.

The bathroom is not sound proof so you could hear the people next door shower and talk.

The view was gorgeous. Cottage had everything we needed.

In need of maintenance. Poor water pressure in shower, outside furniture dilapidated and light bulbs in main bedroom not working. We booked for 5 people but were only provided with bedding and towels for 4.

We couldn't shower properly as there wasn't hot water and the shower had no pressure at all. The water came out in a treacle. The place is in the middle of nowhere. We drove for 50kms on gravel road in darkness before getting there. There was no electricity when we got there and no communication that the generator will be switched off before we arrived. We hooted outside in the dark and nobody came out to assist us. My family was terrified. The unit is part of the next unit and has a two way mirror between the units, blocked off by a flimsy blind. We could hear everything from the unit next to us. The gas heater was not operational to warm the unit. This was one of the worst places that we stayed at during our vacation and I would never recommend it.

Besides the views there is nothing appealing about this place.

Facilities - very limited hot water in the bath rooms, microwave is not working, match box is with used matches and couldn't lit a gas stove for cooking.

They don't tell you that they only have spotty solar power until the day of your arrival - we had to have cold showers most of the time, which was really unpleasant as the weather was cold, and had no electricity at night. Our bedroom light was broken and the one toilet didn't work properly. One night when we tried to go out, the gate around the property had been locked so we had to call and wait 20mins for someone to open up. No one had told us the gate would be locked at night, and no key was provided for the lock. The restaurant opens very late, so you'll have to eat somewhere else if you want an early start to your day. The service is also very slow and unreliable (forgotten items that have to be asked for again). We were sent a list of drinks & braai packs you could order beforehand, but when we got there and had to pay, the beers were more expensive than quoted. When we queried this, we were just told "that's the price on the system". Very expensive for self-catering only, where half the facilities don't even work. You are expected to clean your own dishes - which is ridiculous considering how expensive the accommodation is.

The roosterkoek at the restaurant was delicious. The room has a nice view.
