Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

South AfricaWe ate at the restaurant on Wednesday 24th evening and paid the bill BEFORE leaving for our apartment. We only left at 9:30 that Friday morning and when we got home I received an email from Blue Peter via Booking.com that "I left the hotel without paying my restaurant bill" of R1700 and that I should phone BP to rectify this asap. I was furious because the email wording was very incriminating AND sent via Booking.com instead of by BP themselves! (Humiliated twice). I deleted the email because I thought maybe this was sent to the wrong email address. The next morning BP phoned me and again asked me to arrange for payment. This was the ultimate! I asked 2 questions - how can 2 pensioners eat for R1700 and why only enquire after 3 days since the dinner? The lady said she'd phone me back after "sorting out" this account as if I was guilty anyway. She phoned me back after an hour with an excuse that the waiter that served us that evening, confused our surname with another party at the table behind us and then put the bill on our room number. (To me this a lame excuse anyway). My questions were, how did he know our room number, why not ask us if it had to be put on the account and where did he then allocate our payment to? My suggestion to BP therefore is to phone the guest personally (not through Booking.com and per email), double check before you accuse a guest point blank and change the wording of your initial email instead of immediately making such an incriminating statement.
The breakfast was excellent as well as the restaurant dinner. Bed was very comfortable as well as the linen. ....... see next remark......

South AfricaOther than the cold weather - which is out of anyone's control we had a lovely time, short and sweet. No negatives.
We arrived early evening and the lady who checked us in was incredibly friendly and efficient. After putting our luggage in the room, we went to the pub and asked the other patrons if they would mind if we changed the channel to watch the FA Cup Semi-finals, everyone was so accommodating and friendly. Breakfast the following morning was superb, very delicious and wonderful staff to assist. Thank you for the experience.

South AfricaThey could have at least notified us the hotel guests that we wont have our breakfast where we were meant to have it we were informed upon arrival. Also the cleaning staff did not put nor provide a pillow case for one of the pillows
The breakfast was great, I love that they serve buffet style but on our last day we couldn't enjoy the buffet and were ushered to one of the hotel's restaurants because the venue was booked out for private function but I must commend the hotel staff for making sure that we got everything we wanted on our breakfast menu.
