The only thing I did not like had nothing to do with the host or the cottage. Unfortunately, the road leading in and out of this fantastic little town are not maintained by the government and the potholes are plentiful. BUT staying at this place makes up for the odd 30km bad road to travel there from the highway.

Carin, the host kept in contact via Whattsapp as we were on a road trip. When we arrived she welcomed us personally to the most awesome little cottage (that has been declared a heritage site). She took us through the cottage, gave tips where to eat. I will most definitely stay here again!

The Dusty Vine was a highlight of our family roadtrip. We can only say …. WOW! Everything was extremely clean and the property is beautifully styled and furnished. An absolute must stay . Would recommend this beautiful accommodation. Absolutely loved the stylish bathroom and kitchen .

It’s not what we didn’t like but rather I hope that the community of Phillippolis will develop the rest of the town as Dusty vine did with their two properties.

Ants an flies were bit of a problem. Braai is bit small . There was a bit of confusion about the amount of people and the price.

We loved absolutely everything!

What a wonder gem in the heart of the Karoo. Perfect overnight spot if you are willing to try an alternative route than N1, but absolutely worth staying a few days longer if you need a tranquil break away from the rat race. Charming, elegant and well equipped, Hoekhuis is perfect for a group up to 8 people. Nagmaal huis more cosy for up to 4 people. Everything you need to self-cater, but superb dinner also served at Emily’s!

Everything was excellent. The road linking Colesberg and Trompsberg to Philippolis (the R717) is a bit pot holed in places. You need to drive carefully but that's true of most rural roads outside W Cape.

I didn't stay for breakfast. I had supper the night of my arrival and its was good, considering I arrived much later than intended

Carin who looks after the property was just amazing. she must us feel welcome from just the first smile of her hello. the house we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous with amazing decor and art. Everything you need for a winter stay in the Karoo, from fire places to keep warm, to a cosey reading room to snuggle up in front of a fire, and very comfortable beds.

The property was nice and spacious. The bathrooms are lovely and new and they even had earbuds and make-up wipes. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher (and dishwasher powder), a beautiful tea and coffee station complete with sugar and fresh milk in the fridge. There is a lovely sun room complete with wood fire. The place was very easy to find, just off the main road. The host was amazing, nothing seemed too much effort. Would definitely rush back!

Beautiful house, stylishly decorated with everything you need. Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff. The town is lovely, quiet and safe. We travelled with 2 big vehicles and Stephanie arranged parking at the neighbours’ house for the second vehicle.
