First the reception was very friendly and helpful. a lovely young lady with a super cool attitude for their guests. When calling the reception after booking in we asked for someone to come light the indoor fire, there was no issues and we got someone to help us. The food is out of this world delicious, you have to taste it to understand, certainly the best food in all our travels.

The menu of the restaurant could do with a bit more variety, e.g chicken schnitzel could be added for those that want to reduce on meat dishes. Although staff and chef were very accommodating in making some changes to the set menu.

Stayed two nights in the Edge Mountain retreat whilst in Hogsback. Well worth the scary road journey-puts the term potholes into context! You don't need a 4x4 but careful driving. The spacious cottage provided an amazing view over the valley and the road we have driven up to Hogsback. Found friendly and generous people at the Edge, as well as in this beautiful village. We surely will visit again, this time with a more appropriate vehicle.

Due to Eskom the electricity goes by phases. so certain cottages don’t get affected and certain cottages does. the restaurant had everything working except for the lights.Our cottage had no lights , no electricity , so couldn’t use the microwave or fridge. When alerted about the situation , they assisted us with water and also offered for changing of the cottage at night. Definitely not value for money.

We stayed at cliffside( superior chalet) and the room was amazing, had all the facilities needed and the view was just amazing.the restaurant food was good and the staff was friendly.

Our cottage wasn't cleared out - in the bathroom was still the previous people's empty shampoo bottle. Maybe an upgrade on the TV would be nice.

Personnel were very friendly - we felt welcome. The food was outstanding in the restaurant. Loved the atmosphere. The view on the edge is absolutely stunning!

There are no nets around the bed, considering there are a lot a mosquitos and bugs.

This property is amazing! So serene and calm. It’s nice to get away from the city. The viewpoint they have is out of this world, spent hours in silence there. There is a restaurant where you can get food, the staff was really friendly

As much as we love The Edge, our friends found a much bigger place for a similar price, Im not sure the tiny cottages although quaint are worth what they are charging for them when there is so much choice in Hogsback. The fire place smoked us out on our last night, we did report it on the 2nd day but I think they are just old. We had to open the door and windows so that we could breath and it was a cold evening. Absolutely NO wifi in our place.

The location of the little studio cottage is beautiful in well maintained gardens. The staff were all very friendly. The restaurant was our favourite spot for meals etc during our 5 night stay and the fresh Ciabatta is fantastic.

Liked everything, but gardening with weed eaters close to the bungalow at times of resting after lunch was not pleasant.

The peaceful location, the beautiful gardens and flowers, the position of the facility, with open balcony so close to the mountain edge. The restaurant, atmosphere and log fire on chilly nights.
