Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaNothing. It was superb.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Gallery. It was easy to communicate with Shelagh from the first email that I shared with her. She was there on our arrival and her friendly and kind welcome set the tone. The facilities were very good: kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor furniture. The venue is decorated with her lovely art, and the muesli was a hit. She left several welcome treats for us, and I especially valued the birthday acknowledgement. We had a wondeful time.

South AfricaVery little. As is often the casein, It was somewhat rainy and cool when we arrived but access to an open fireplace (well provided with wood and fire making accessories) as well as efficient well panel heaters ensure a cosy stay.
This is a superlative place to stay and I am planning to make it a final destination, rather than a stopover, as soon as I can. There is just too much to say from the attentiveness of the hosts, the well stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms and lounge.

South AfricaThe only downside was my dog was a bit too curious and got electrocuted one too many times by the electric cattle fence surrounding the property. A major, Nevertheless, because we'll definitely be back! It was a perfect weekend
Aloe farm has truly been an amazing experience. The house is gorgeous, as it is outside. The pictures actually didn't do justice to this beautiful place where the farm style cottage exterior meets 5 star luxury interior. The place was spacious and had everything we needed and more! The little homely yet elegant touches made it even more of a special place. Shelagh has truly thought of a pet owners welcome from instructions on all appliances and switches to a Pet treat box filled with pet blankets and towels to keep your pets clean and warm. The view from "The Gallery" was spectacular, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the neighbourhood hiking trails with my dogs.

United Kingdom'The Studio' and 'The Gallery' are two separate divided properties at Aloe Farm. 'The Studio' does not have access to the fire pit or views over the dam (as the 'The Gallery') but faces an open field where people walk their dogs in the evenings. There is a dirt district road to the property which is mostly in good condition. The two back rooms are tightly packed and a bit of a squeeze when the house is fully occupied.
'The Studio' is located on Aloe Farm and has access to beautiful walking paths and sunset views. We loved the veggie patch, lovely artworks, upmarket decor and thoughtful touch of a 'winter warmer' box filled with warm blankets, marshmallows and hot water bottles. There is delicious home-made hot chocolate and muesli. The friendly and helpful host is onsite if you need anything from more firewood to additional cleaning.

South AfricaNo fault of the host. But there was a massive power failure for half our stay and because it was a rainy weekend we stayed in. An invert would have been great just so we could charge our phones and maybe watch some TV. But again Shelagh was very helpful throughout the power failure and the ample firewood kept our fires burning.
The facilities were exceptional. Location nicely tucked away in a peaceful tranquil country setting but within close distance to groceries and other supplies. Also easy access to other attractions in the Midlands area. The accommodation was a home away from home with modern farm style living. We especially loved our host Shelagh who went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was exceptional. The little personalised welcome board with our names and chocolates was a very heartwarming touch as was the delicious homemade hot chocolate and muesli! We loved the fireplace and outdoor patio and braai area as well. Definitely looking forward to staying at The Aloes again!

South AfricaOnly that we hadn't booked for longer. It would be perfect for a week's hide-away.
The Aloes was an exceptional place to stay and exceeded our expectations. Although it was located on a farm, it was the perfect location for not only our Midmar Mile swim, but also to access some great sites and locations in the vicinity, including the Mandela capture memorial site and some delightful markets and quaint pubs and restaurants. Sheilagh was an exceptional host and made sure we had all the information we needed, down to the smallest detail (she even shared her granola recipe with us :-) ). The place itself was super comfortable and stylishly decorated. The wonderful fire-pit and braai area outside had a lovely stoep looking out onto the Albert Dam and surrounds.
