Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomThe Waves had no signage to tell you where they are. It took us ages to find they are in the Empire Building on Beach Street, rather than Melrose... which is where the car park entrance is. The Waves is a series of self-catering apartments spread out in one building ... or maybe more. Once we found the location, all was wonderful, and we had an amazing time! The staff were great, responsive, and helpful. We would come again.
Helpful, friendly staff, always responsive.. Location was great, very central to getting around, right on the beach and close to major roads, lots of restaurants and shops near. Very safe and security conscious. Underground, secure parking. The flat was clean, well equipped.

Great location near Surfer's corner. Appartment clean and comfotable. I have stayed in other units in the same buiding and what is really nice about this one is that it gets the afternoon sun which makes it brighter and warmer on those cooler days (especially if you've just come staight out of the cold ocean!).

South AfricaWe weren’t told when booking that there were no visitors allowed. That should have been told to us initially not just days before our stay as we have family who live here and it would have been nice for them to join us for a meal. Please make it more clear as to the name of the building and give the correct location (not 165 Main Rd!) we were looking for Apartments called The Wave but that was only the name of the apartment. Thank goodness Melissa was easily contactable and assisted us quickly.
Very convenient location with safe parking! Good security and clean and neat apartment. Plenty utensils and complementary small milk and waters 👍👍👍Melissa was super and helpful 👌

South AfricaThe unit however is in very average condition and slightly unmaintained. From the time we arrived we were met by maintenance challenges broken oven, faulty shower and old uncomfortable main bed. The unit is a bit tired.
The property has an excellent location. It is directly on the beachfront so makes for a lovely holiday.
