check in desk was empty on arrival? the security nearly turned me back at the gate as they claimed the hotel was fully booked. I had to should and call out for help. no bell nor any indication as to what to do. parking is a serious issue. this could be better managed for guests. other establishments have a guest list at the gate for the security personnel to avoid unnecessary discussions. secondly, breakfast was poorly planned as the large table was not convenient for mothers like myself who were not part of the large group. ended up having breakfast in the bar.

Drinks were very expensive at the bar. I do think for a 5 star hotel there should be some rusks/shortbread for morning coffee, especially for guests not staying for breakfast. We were in room 5 the light at the dressing table did not work. There was a continuous beeping noise throughout the night from the property next door

Our room was a little cold until we reported that the air conditioning was not working when, to be fair, the problem was quickly rectified and the air conditioning warmed the room up. There was a short delay between load shedding onset and the generator starting but this was just a minor inconvenience.

Beautiful hotel with lovely bedrooms and tastefully decorated public areas. Staff were helpful, friendly and polite. Breakfast excellent.

Rooms were cold, not heated prior to our pre-arranged check-in. It was a very cold Johannesburg winter's evening. the Aircon eventually warmed the room. The main bar wine list is limited and the bar under independent management. The entire hotel is under new ownership who are planning upgrades and a refurb.

We had phones charges on our bill that were not ours, but the staff quickly sorted it out. It is much more intimate than your normal type of hotel. The balcony wasn't as big as I had expected.

Great location, safe parking. Great staff. Breakfast was really good with no pork which was important to us. Beautifully clean swimming pool and nice gardens and public spaces. Very quiet and tranquil. Unique rooms. Our bathroom was large with huge mirrors on 2 walls which was great for getting ready for functions. Large desk for working at with decent wi-fi. Bed was gigantic.

It’s a shame we were the only table in for dinner so the atmosphere was lacking. Menu could do with a refresh - it is rather dated with the only dessert option being “ice cream with fresh fruit salad”! 10am check out is a bit harsh on a weekend or public holiday, though we stretched it to 10.30am.

Great location, and was very secure. Public spaces were beautifully decorated and furnished. Room was spacious and comfortable with a good shower and TV had Netflix. Wish the weather had been kinder to use the pool, which looked inviting.

Staff were inconsistent - some good, some really had the wrong attitude. Our room facing Rosebank suffered from traffic noise - although it looks as if there are plenty that would not.

Power cut that wouldn’t connect to the generator, yet other rooms did .

I loved everything about this property. Hotel is tranquil. However on the last day we experienced major power challenges. This led to no lights, no hot water and no WiFi, yet I was working “ from home “ 😭
