Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWe liked everything about Thorwood, was a very romantic and relaxing getaway. The house is so private, tucked in the woods, perfect for relaxing. I loved lying in the bath at night with the big windows, looking at the moon. Our host Nadia was incredible. You are also surrounded by walking trails perfect for bird watching. A lots of activities to do, if you prefer so.

United KingdomOur recent stay at Thornwood left us utterly speechles. From the moment we set foot in this enchanting lodge, we were greeted not only with stunning accommodation but also with service that can only be described as exceptional. Nadia, the heart and soul of Thornwood, deserves a standing ovation. Her commitment to making our stay unforgettable was nothing short of awe-inspiring. When we realized we had left some of our belongings behind, Nadia went above and beyond to ensure they were back in our possession before we even boarded our flight back to the UK. Her dedication epitomizes the perfect host in every regard. Nestled in the serene embrace of the African Bush, Thornwood is nothing short of a sanctuary for both body and soul. The surroundings are breathtaking, with nature's beauty on full display. The lodge's design seamlessly integrates with the environment, creating a harmonious and tranquil atmosphere that allows you to truly disconnect and rejuvenate. Our room was a haven of comfort and elegance, with every detail thoughtfully attended to. The décor exuded African charm, and the amenities provided left nothing to be desired. But it's not just the physical aspects of Thornwood that make it exceptional; it's the entire experience. The warm hospitality and the personalised service combine to create an unforgettable retreat. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, Thornwood caters to your every desire. Our stay at Thornwood was a journey into serenity, luxury, and the heart of the African Bush. Nadia's dedication to ensuring our stay was flawless is a testament to the lodge's commitment to its guests. We wholeheartedly recommend you visit this beautiful sanctuary and experience the magic for yourself. Thornwood is a place where you'll not only find exceptional accommodation but also outstanding service that will leave you with memories to treasure for a lifetime.

South AfricaI guess if I was nitpicking, I would say more larger wildlife.
The new owner, Nadia, was extremely friendly and hands on. Both her and Angel, the housekeeper, ensured that our stay was memorable. There are not too many places that will still welcome you with a cool and refreshing hand towel. Nadia met us outside, with the towels, walked us in for complimentary cocktails and a brief walk around the lodge. The lodge is surrounded by the most amazing bush and we had birds, squirrels and even a young Nyla visit us during the day. The lodge is well maintained and everything worked as it should, including the novel outside showers (don’t worry, there are luxury baths inside!) We were self catering and the kitchen was stocked with way more than most self catering spots and the cutlery and crockery were of an extremely high standard. The beds and linen were also superb which is always questionable when staying in lodges. The open living area gave a feeling of a luxury bush camp. Not to forget the plunge pool and deck chairs which were most welcome after a bush walk. We had a fire in the fire pit every evening and used the gas barbecue as well. Both were well maintained. There are plenty (safe) bush walks straight from the lodge. They are all clearly marked out and offer different distances. We did small walks of a couple of hundred meters to a water-hole right up to a 6km walk to the far side of the park. Apart from the many bird species, we also saw: giraffe, nyala, impala, red buck, genet, squirrels and monkeys. We would certainly go back. (In the images, I have added a map- we were is spot 11)

South AfricaIt was lightning in the evening and pouring with rain. It was a very humid day and everyone needed showers desperately. Had to utilize the bath tubs as the showers are all outdoors. Would have been ideal to have at least one indoor shower. On the flip and more positive side, it was an amazing experience showering outdoors the next morning when the weather was beautiful.
Very unique almost glamping type of set up. Loved the amenities and entire feel of being almost outdoors but not quite.

In Kuleni park there are wird animals (not predators) that you can see right from apartment or go for a walk. Friendly stuff ready to hwlp any time. Nice experience.

We had a wonderful four days there with friends. The accommodation was amazing with a free flow design to the main Lodge and well placed two sleeper suites near by. We loved to sit on the deck and watch the buck and Guinea fowl go past. Even when inside you feel part of the bush given large windows that can be opened while you enjoy a bath or siesta. there are also open air showers .Well cleaned daily . you can also walk the trails around the Eco estate and spy giraffe and zebra. Loved every minute. We stayed in the two sleeper by the main lawn
