Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MozambiqueNothing to declare 😆
The property is beautiful, gives you a sense of being home and not in an hotel. Andrew and Kim are the perfect hosts and Stanford is a super kind. The history of the family is all over the place. The gardens are beautiful. Our room was the big one and magnificent. The kids room was the smaller one, but with a cute garden by the side. Just loved the place!

CanadaThere's nothing I didn't like, everything was delightful.
Without a doubt, Torburnlea is the best place to stay in Nelspruit - coming from someone who has spent considerable time visiting the area and experienced quite a few different guesthouses! The home is beautifully maintained and decorated; the interior design is thoughtful, taste and dripping in history. Most of the amenities and interior pieces are locally produced, which is always appreciated. The home is on a gorgeous property, the garden receives much care and it shows! I spent quite a bit of time working away on the front porch, taking in the fragrance and sounds of the garden. The property is located in Mattafin village, which is super quiet and safe. The breakfast and dinners that Stanford, Nicholas and the team prepared were second to none. I wouldn't really consider Nelspruit a city for foodies but the best meals I had in Nelspruit were definitely the dinners prepared by Stanford. Again, they commit to locally produced food items and even grow a lot fo their ingredients. The delicious rusks provided in the room are made by Stanford as well. Last, but not least, the hospitality... Kim, Andrew, Stanford, Andrea, Nicholas, Chris and everyone I interacted with on the property were kind, helpful and welcoming. During my stay, I was truly welcomed and treated like family and felt completely cared for. All the kind gestures and small touches were so appreciated. A big thank you to the Hall family and the team at Torburnlea for your kindness and an enjoyable and restful stay! After being spoiled at Torburnlea, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Nelspruit and hope to visit again (but only in 2022!)

South AfricaBreakfast was not as generous as I had hoped for but certainly tasty.
Central location, close to highway and shops but not uncomfortably close. Secure environment. Friendly neighborhood. Great variety of birds in surrounding gardens. Historical building, well maintained.

UK Virgin IslandsUnfortunately, Stanford was away for the time that we were there but Kim and Chris were gracious hosts and stood in for him. Would have loved to have met him. Till next time.
The house has a wonderful warm and inviting feel to it. It was built in the early 20th century but has all the modern amenities you would expect. The bath in Room 5 is incredible with a fantastic view. The breakfast every morning is served with yoghurt and a selection of fruits and stewed fruit before the hot breakfast is made to order. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing through the area or as a family getaway with enough rooms to accommodate everyone. Situated in a secure and safe lifestyle estate which provided a great opportunity for a mid-day stroll to the farm and equestrian center nearby.

South AfricaNothing. Everything was outstanding!!
We had a very short stay at Tornunlea, however, it was amazing! Its the most beautiful property with such a rich history to it. Both Kim and Andrew were welcoming and super friendly. The breakfast was amazing too. Made to each guest's preference and super tasty and well represented. Andrea, although we didn't meet her, made our booking go through easily and catered for all our special requests. Absolutely stunning place and people!

South AfricaCould do with some soundproofing between rooms but I guess it's part of the charm of an old home. Thankfully our neighbour was a light snorer ;)
What a special place - from the gorgeous interiors that invite you to relax to the friendly service and delicious meals, this was a perfect getaway spot nestled in a quiet farm village estate. This old family home has been lovingly restored by Kim and Andrew and who can tell you about the amazing history behind it. Can't wait for our next visit.
