We had a very weird check-in experience. When we arrived we were asked to complete an online form which was fine (although the couple next to us was given a paper form). They didn't give us any explanation as to where the room was so we went to find it and as it turned out we had to go up a set of stairs. When we asked at the reception if they had a lift they said no, but they told us that our room was on the ground floor. As it turned out, it wasn't on the ground floor (I don't know why they didn't direct us correctly in the first place) so we took our heavy bags up the stairs but when we arrived at the room we realised that they had given us a smoking room that had a strong smell of smoke. We went back to the reception to request a room change since we had booked a non-smoking room. This time they gave us a room on the ground floor so we again had to take all our bags down the stairs. My main issue wasn't that we were given a smoking room instead of a non-smoking room (at least since we were able to change it) but that we were given a room on the upper floor when there was availability on the ground floor. The reception should prioritise giving the rooms on the ground floor to people who can't easily go up the stairs and to those who have a lot of luggage or at least offer someone to help with taking the bags upstairs.

The room was a bit small but it was fine for the money we paid, it was clean and had everything we needed (including toiletries and tissues). We also tried the dinner at the restaurant which was ok and got the continental breakfast option in the morning that had plenty of a fair number of items on offer.

The matter regarding booking with booking .com was a disaster and most unpleasant requested transport from airport was confirmed at no extra cost however it did cost in the long run as the hotel does not provide a free shuttle … it did last year 2022 .

Nothing to complain about super value if you compare

The lodge was handy for Kempton Park and the airport 5mins max. Close to shopping centre at East Rand Mall and Makro also there was a golf shop a mile away.
