Extremely hot and no signal even just for phone calls, all entertainment and activities werent on property and only available at otger resort , lists all activities on booking site but does not specify its not on the premises, also asked to suprise my husband for his burthday with a cake and champagne(it was provided) but they ruined the suprise part on arrival by walking us to the room with the cake and campagne given to my husband to carry instead of setting up before hand as requested because communication(as was told to me) between staff and owner was very poor on this

The food was great, rooms exceeded expectations and very neat and very nice decor, has all amenities needed for self catering and making food, views all around are spectacular to explore

The vibe of the employees wasn't to good and the restaurant was absolutely terrible. We had lunch and breakfast there and I couldn't really say which one was worse. So the lodge I'd recommend but please stay away from the restaurant, they charge as if the food was any good and it's honestly appallingly bad.

The location is lovely, with the river right in front of you. As an ecolodge, unfortunately they don't have AC so you have to do with a fan but it does cool down at night. There's no WIFI in the room although you can use it in the restaurant area. Personally, I didn't mind not having wifi since we were there for a short time and it was a good way to disconnect for a while. The best part about this place is the quite and being surrounded by nature.

I would have really loved it if the cleaning services were available daily, but they were there twice during our stay. I had not enquired on how many times they are available per week.

I loved how off grid the accommodation was, it was definitely what I needed as I was overwhelmed with city life. Waking up to the sound of birds singing outside and looking at the serene Treur River. The environment is very safe and close to nature as far as possible. The accommodation is at the centre of all places of interest one would like to visit. We really enjoy waking up early and bicycle riding within the property. If you want to connect with nature and be one with it, this is definitely the place to be.

There was no hot water or internet/ network AT all. We had to use the restaurant deck for Wifi connection. It’s an ECO lodge so no use of electronics is permitted. No Iron, Kettle etc. When the lithium batteries run out of solar power there’s no way to charge your phone

For anyone who reads the property descriptions properly and consents to going there by booking the place, there is honestly nothing to hate. Everything we found was just as explained on the property description. So you just need to be ready and do not be afraid of the friendly bugs if you want to be on your porch in the dark. And remember to respect all the wildlife and insects. They all stay there, they give the place it's authenticity, you are the guest. Chill out, heal and enjoy. 😊

The food we ordered from the eatery was fantastic! But what we loved most, what led us there in the first place was the peace and closeness to nature. We felt very calm and grounded there, nothing like a running river, fresh air and natural sounds to relief life's stresses for those willing to unplug from the matrix. The close by attractions of the famous Panorama route need no explaination ofcause, and this place is in close proximity to the most well known ones. 😊

There was a small oversight on the braai’s grill that was rusted through but they helped us immediately by giving us another and some of the dishes had been skipped when room service had to clean them before we signed in but really wasn’t a problem at all for us. Will definitely recommend them to anyone.

We love nature and minimalistic vibes. We loved the stay and we are going to go there again in the future. The people there are awesome and very accommodating to any requests and helps out if there is a problem. We absolutely loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone that’s going to see the amazing views in the surrounding areas! Thank you very much for a amazing stay!

The only slight concern was the road to the Lodge and Restuarant. We had a bit of rain around our stay and the road became quite muddy and slippery, we were a bit concerned that we might get stuck as we were not in a 4 x 4.

The Treur River Lodge offers a lovely peaceful getaway. We really enjoyed the river and natural surroundings. It is also conveniently located close to the Blyde Canyon and other tourist destinations in the area. The accommodation was tastefully decorated and clean. We will definitely be back for another visit in future!

when we went in we had a couple of bad insects, if the window is left open I would recommend to leave a spray there’s no curtain between the bedroom and the bathroom so I would recommend to put one for more privacy

it’s a lodge near the river super quiet, so if you want to disconnect from the world is great great location near the canyon nice cafe next to it host super nice gives you alle the correct indications cause Google might send you a bit off road wifi is available at the reception and the hot water works like the host tells you, just need a couple of minutes to heat up but we were there during summer so didn’t need to wait long at all

It doesn’t have a kitchen (no sink, no fridge, just a small heating plate) Staff leave the place at 16h, so it’s difficult to plan for dinner. Also no heating and it was a bit cold at night

Charming place lost in the nature. They have the only acceptable restaurant in the area.
