Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe lodge is simply stunning. The cabin/bedroom is spacious and clean, with an amazing view of the bush. The staff is welcoming and very professional. I've had a great massage in the spa—highly recommended! Our guide (Ricardo) was the best. He's passionate about his work, knowledgeable, and professional.

United KingdomQuite literally the only thing we didn't love were some of the desserts. Just not the best compared to everything else. Other than that, we cannot fault a thing!
Honestly one of the best game lodges we've stayed at. From the warmth of the staff to the comfiness of the rooms (best bed/ linen ever), there was nothing we didn't love. We will be going back again and again! Because it's a smaller lodge (only 5 rooms) it feels like home. The lodge was very accommodating to us and we couldn't have had a better weekend. Steven, our ranger, was excellent (even in a hair-raising situation with a rhino)!

IrelandEverything about Tshwene Lodge was amazing. The staff, the food, the room were all incredible, and the reserve itself is stunning. As a vegetarian I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the food but it was honestly some of the best meals I've ever had anywhere. We had amazing game drives, saw the Big 5 plus so much more. There is a lovely atmosphere in the lodge and the chill out areas/pool are lovely. Definitely bring a book as you have a lot of time to chill during the day between the drives. I honestly couldn't recommend Tshwene Lodge more. We also stayed one night in their sister lodge Ekuthuleni, as Tshwene was booked out, and that lodge is also incredible - if you get to visit either lodge count yourself lucky!

South AfricaEverything from our arrival at the main gate was spectacular and well considered. Drinks and Biltong after a trip from Joburg was just what we needed! The staff at the Lodge were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome the whole way through and everything we needed was catered to, including towels for the pool. Our room was bright, airy and spacious with a massive incredibly comfortable bed with some of the best linen I’ve experienced. The shower, bath and outdoor shower were precisely as advertised and wonderful smelling shower gels, shampoos and conditioners were provided. None of this compares to the absolutely spectacular game drives we went on! If you are looking for a game drive, book this right now. You have the option to go in the morning and in the evening and each has its own magic. We saw the Big Five up close in one morning drive and got to watch the lions hunting in a nearby plain! Elias, our driver was extremely knowledgable about the game, birds and plants in the reserve and his tracking skills are like nothing I’ve ever seen. I haven’t even mentioned the delicious food. Superb! Loved our stay here and can’t say a bad word about it.

South AfricaOur driver that took us for game drives could have interacted a bit more with the guests during the drive - especially about sharing smaller facts about the bush and engaging more often. But besides that, we had excellent sightings and overall a great experience! I can indeed compliment our driver on excellent driving skills....very cautious when he had to pass a bumpy area..;-)
Amazing lodge. Cindy and her team really let us feel at home. Wish our stay could be longer. I can recommend Tshwene Lodge to any person looking for a breakaway with an exclusive feel to it...and the food was excellent!! Facilities was clean and staff very friendly!!

South AfricaEverything was perfect. If I can add what may be improved is the lack of wifi in the rooms. But then again, when you are looking to get away, do you really want wifi in the rooms??
When I did the booking I must say that I was concerned as the price quoted for what was offered was far less than other lodges. However the need to get away overcame my concern and I booked a 3 day stay over Christmas. We drove to Welgevonden Game Reserve. We were pleasantly welcomed by the lodge's game drive vehicle and our guide, Elias, was excellent. When we arrived at the lodge itself, after an hour game drive, we were met by the warm smile and the wonderful hospitality of the lodge's team, Sinah, the chef and person responsible, Ezekiel, Linah, Maria and Lawrence. What an amazing team. For the entire period of our stay they made us feel special. Sinah wooed us with her culinary skills. What amazing dishes. The premises are excellent. Located in a quiet position overlooking a ravine. Immersed in the South African bush. Ideal for a quiet get away. Only 5 units with comfortable amenities. I loved the indoor and out door showers and my wife the baths. Swimming pool, spa - great massage by Linah and the restaurant / bar managed excellently by Ezekiel. Excellent game drives with Elias who new exactly how to read the bush and where to find the animals. We saw all the big 5 and the lesser game.

South AfricaIt started with a 1 hour game drive from the gate on arrival with welcome drinks for the drive, amazing sun rise and sunset drives with tea and coffee in the morning and snacks and drinks of your choice in the afternoon😍😍😍, love it. Our amazing game ranger Thabang, very friendly and knowledgeble about his work. He made an effort to look for animals and find them for us, no matter how far we went👌. Friendly staff and an amazing chef celia, she prepared very scrumptious and tasty meals😋😋😋. You will never go hungry with the 3 meals per day. We also experienced the swedish massage. It was out of this world. The lodge only accommodates 10 guests per stay, which makes it so intimate to socialise with other guests from around the world and makes the stay more enjoyable.

South AfricaThe meals were great and ambience was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and super friendly. The room is very comfortable, fluffy pillows, towels; etc. Loved the outside shower; the water is super hot and the pressure is excellent. We booked a full body massage and the therapists were absolutely great. It was truly one of the best massages I’ve had – thank you Dorcas and Leaha. Our Ranger, Thabang made each game drive a very memorable event sharing his knowledge; jokes and patiently navigating his way in the bush to showcase what the game reserve has to offer. The landscape in the reserve is appealing, there is abundance of animals. Tshwene Lodge takes care of those small details that make one’s stay exceptional!
