Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Although it's a tent, it has all the hotel facilities inside, and the service is also very high standard. The three meals are also very good. I even ran into an antelope on the less than 100 meter road to dinner one day. Of course, if it's just these hardware, this Lodge won't leave a very prominent impression. Safari's tour guide will do everything possible to help you find animals. They share information about animal presence and will not rush back due to a 3-hour time limit. Before coming to Kruger, we had seen some animals in Chobe and on our first day here, we collected big five, which we were quite satisfied with. But the next morning Safari collected big five at once, and the luckiest thing was to see a group of five lions, who were located on the border of their private territory. I sincerely recommend the highly cost-effective Umkumbe bush lodge, and I believe I will always remember the beautiful memories here.

GermanyAmazing tents, super comfortable beds and we absolutely loved the outdoor shower(s)! Staff is super friendly! The chef cooked an extra meal for me because of my lactose intolerance, thank you so much for that! By the way the food was delicious! The way to get to the the camp is a bit of an experience with a small car but still possible. You will receive a warm welcome! We didn't expect a room service on our departure day.

United StatesThe area in which they can conduct the game drives is small, so we lost out on some sightings because the animals wandered off the property, but having said that, I had some of my very best elephant, lion, and leopard encounters ever. The standard tents are located next to the parking lot and reception, so everyone is walking by. While they are perfectly fine tents, the setting makes them not worth the money for me. The luxury tents are much better situated and the Honeymoon tent is by far the best of all. Oh, and I thought it strange they charge for drinks. Other, far less expensive camps I’ve been to haven’t charged.
The Honeymoon Tent is AMAZING in an amazing setting. I stayed there alone after upgrading from a standard tent, which was fine, but I didn’t care for their setting at all. Totally worth the onsite upgrade. Leo was a wonderful and very knowledgeable driver/guide. The food was good. They made special vegetarian dishes for me at every meal. The staff all wonderful and accommodating. It’s a lovely and well maintained property.

United KingdomWell you stay in a luxury tent, insects do still make their way in… good thing about the net over the bed.
What an incredible experience. The food was amazing! We were concerned about this before we arrived because didn’t know what to expect! It was so yum! The staff! Where do we start nothing was an issue. We seen an elephant and some lions on our last morning from the balcony in the communal area in the park that was incredible. Our guide was so knowledgeable, friendly and nothing was a problem! He was able to show us the big 5!

If I could score more than 10/10 I would. This place is truly amazing in every sense. We had such a great time here. The tent was beautiful, the food was of a very high quality and plenty of it on offer. The staff were so attentive and super friendly, we honestly were made to feel that we had known these people for years. They were happy to socialise with us after dinner in the beautiful setting. The main public areas were looking out straight into the bush and often you could see a number of animals just mooching around. We booked an airport transfer from Skukuza and from the moment we landed and met by our driver, we felt very privileged. And from the moment we arrived at the camp, we were greeted so warmly, that continued throughout our whole stay. The game drives were something else and Lyla our guide was fabulous, she went over and above to ensure we saw as many of the animals that she could, driving over terrain which was looking a bit risky but she knew the areas and her knowledge of the animals is admirable ... we fell in love with her, and this place. As for the Big 5... no problem. We will be back.

AustriaNothing, we‘d come back anytime and would recommend 10/10!
Where should I start .. it‘s a perfectly organized, extremely friendly, clean & luxurious lodge in the middle of Sabi Sands. The game drives were spectacular and had well educated guides. Breakfast, lunch & dinner options are rather selected, but the quality is great and the staff always makes an effort to give everyone the best experience! Booking this lodge at a private game reserve makes the whole experience so relaxed & cozy. It’s very easy & fun to get in touch with other groups staying there.

this was the best stays that we have ever experienced. We left feeling like we were leaving our family behind. front desk was fantastic and always so kind to answer our many questions. The food was delicious. They offer massages that were fantastic! The best part about this entire experience were the safari guides.they are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs here and they really want the guests to enjoy each ride and get to see the animals they’re most excited about. I highly recommend this lodge for your stay. With this private lodge you get more up close and personal with the animals but with safe distance. We stayed 4 days and saw the big 5 which was really amazing.

Honestly we loved Umkumbe from start to finish. The camp is gorgeous, excellent food, staff so kind and generous that go above and beyond, and we had such spectacular game drives with so many leopards, elephants and rhino. I've done similar camps in Sabi Sands before but this stay was truly special. Couldn't recommend it more!
