How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We found it challenging to open and close the gate

No electric blankets. Only one little heater. A dirty towel left lying in room off main bedroom. Gate faulty - battled to open and close it. It also blew off in the wind - we found it lying on the floor on our return on Saturday night. No wood for fireplace. Door handle to entrance door was broken.

The doors and flushing the toilet were very noisy. The glass windows at the top of each door let all the light in from the outside the bedrooms which made the rooms very light. No firewood provided. Thank goodness we brought our own.
Neat and cosy especially with the fire place. Loved the outside area where we could have our sundowners.

Quaint, beautiful garden, serene and tranquil. Perfect place to get away to enjoy the countryside. Location is amazing, close to all amenities. Loved my stay as a solo traveller. Great outside scenery for pictures too 👌

Nothing, it was all good.
It was perfect for our needs, we wanted a place to shower and rest. Very good value for money, the cottage was spacious for the 2 of us and clean. We expected more road noise but it was surprisingly quiet. We will definately be back.

On arrival cold and wet no welcome pack to make quick cup of coffee, no wood to light a fire. Not serviced, the cottage was not clean very dusty stove/oven dirty coffee table in lounge wrote my name in dust. Twin room needs curtains ,all rooms need a waste bin. Scatter cushions in lounge need a good wash as do the 2 blankets and carpet. Kitchen very short on essentials when you staying 4 people for 4 days. 2 fry pans would be nice also some serving dishes and couple of tupperware to put in fridge. No steak knives no sharp knives no scissors or tin oppener no egg cups no small glasses. This cottage needs a lot of maintenance front and back doors locks dont work nicely back door to verandah is near on impossible to get out of. Dinning room table and chairs need replacing very rickety and old. Tap on kitchen sink needs attention. stove and oven need a really good clean. Lots of these issues have been mentioned many times but have not been acknowledged by the owners So yes some real cleaning and a lot of maintenance would make this cottage a place to come back to. The owner did not even come to welcome us and se if all was ok.
No breakfast as was self catering, loved the tranquility and the garden area was beautiful also nice and close to shops. Beds were comfy. The heaters in the bedrooms were a nice touch but they were the brick like ones on wall and although they did work were dangerous because one was broken in too, not a good idea to use.

The carpets were dirty, cracks in the bedroom wall, Broken heaters in the bedrooms, dining room table and chairs old and squeaky and unstable. Nothing to hold soap in shower. The overhead fans have loose connections and look as if they might fall off the ceiling. The kitchen light cover is full of insects. As you go out the door canopy is rusted and dirty. Front door handle broken.
