How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Their outside lights are too bright, such that my sister could not fall asleep easily. The solution to this problem could be to put heavier or darker curtains for people who sleep well only when the room is dark

Tv remote had no batteries and was told to switch it manually for two days, the room was very hot and the fan was blocking my nostrils, There was no study table, no bar fridge had to use my cooler box and mostly no BACKUP for loadshedding. Gate was open during the day .Manual gate.

It wasn't specified that some rooms are not self catering, so I had to meet the surprise after checking in and it was frustrating

The bed I got wasn't the most comfortable, very hard of you ask me. There was no soap provided, I guess you'll just have to bring your own, which isn't a train smash.
The staff was excellent, unfortunately forgot to ask her name. They have backup for loadshedding which was amazing. It was excellent for our needs.

I could hear people talking from the other rooms and the geysers were not providing hot water for a reasonable time. Only one person can shower every 20 minutes bcos of cold water. I think they need to get better geysers to eliminate this kind of a problem.
The rooms were clean, the guest house was easily accessible.

1.I actually chose the guest house because I saw reviews saying there is back up for loadshedding,I contacted them before booking and they confirmed they have it,yet I experienced loadshedding the whole 6days with no bck up and no explanation why,at sum point I had to go write exam without bathing, because during loadshedding there's no water supply,apparently they r using pressure pump. 3. The amount of hot water is very low, please consider getting bigger geyser,it's winter now we need more hot water to bath. 4. The gate key-is kept by one of the reception ladies and incase u want to go out late or very early in the morning u hv to call them first to cum and open the gate,please consider making gate keys for every room.we want to move in and out at anytime freely without contacting anybody. 4. The bed in my room was not comfortable,the head side is sinking ,while the feet side is hard a straight. 5. One light closer to the study table not working.
I booked self catering room for 6days,which have two plate stove top,fridge,microwave,kettle,The room is spacious and clean,it was a nice stay ,It also have a study table and a chair ,it was very helpful as I was there for examinations,utensils were provided on request,I was able to park my car infront of my room.Friendly Staff khomotso and Maria.

The only trouble I faced was when I was paying there was little bit of error but the receptionist handled the situation very well
I couldn't believe I could get such top notch room with lower price, I loved every single minute I spent there even the staff is overwhelming and probably I'll l visit anytime soon I haven't had enough of that place still wanna explore more that side

The bed is so hard. I absolutely hate worn-out sheets forming "bobbles" everywhere. Flat uncomfortable pillows. No wifi code anywhere in the room. Ran out of hot water in the middle of a shower

Incense in the room is not good. The smell is overwhelming. Please consider removing them with immediate effect. If possible please start introducing Breakfast
