Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had the most amazing stay. Stayed for 3 nights over Easter weekend. Everything was exquisite, from the pre-arrival communication, check in, room (finishes, amenities, plunge pool, peace & quiet), breakfast, dinner at Clara’s Barn/ Guewels, wine tasting. The staff were all amazing. The team has done an amazing job in creating a stunning experience that’s also great value for money. Will definitely be back.

United KingdomNothing of note at all.
I booked the Hotel Vergenoegd Hotel and Spa for me and my wife as part of our "milestone" wedding anniversary celebrations. I can honestly say that we couldn't have imagined a better experience. Not necessarily directly on the usual "beaten track" for Cape Town, but at the same time very convenient if coming from / returning to the airport and an extensive, wide-ranging property, which is not overlooked and at the same time offers views of the surrounding mountains. The Dutch farmhouse and other older buildings have been restored to an exceptionally high standard and similarly the modern accommodation (we stayed in a suite with a separate living area and plunge pool) were impeccably finished in an ultra modern style. As hotel guests, we had breakfast and dinner at Clara's Barn and also booked a lunch with family on the first day of our stay. Again everything was of a very high standard given that the restaurant is run by the chef Bertus Basson. We also booked massages at the (very private and welcoming) spa. These also exceeded our expectations and were a wonderful way for us to relax. A complimentary (for hotel guests) al fresco wine tasting one afternoon was also appreciated. All staff we encountered were highly attentive and professional whilst at the same time being friendly and low key. Nothing was too much trouble. We took a walk around the property one morning before breakfast and encountered the flock of Indian runner ducks on their regular morning walk. One of the staff who looked after them was more than happy to tell us about the unusual (and very cute) birds and his affection for them was evident. Thank you to all who made this a memorable lifetime experience for us. We would more than gladly return.

South AfricaDinner/supper options could be expanded with some simpler/cheaper choices/options. Dinner at Clara Barn is a great culinary treat and experience for one night.
Perfect location for some rest and relaxation. The staff are great and friendly, the rooms are comfortable and luxurious. The pool and Jacuzzi are also great additions to enjoy lazy days. The wine on the farm is good and reasonable priced and there is a great restaurant on the grounds. The ducks on the farm add to the experience. Would definitely visit again.

United KingdomVery little. We did have someone just come into our room after one knock instead of waiting for the door to be opened, on more than one occasion. Not a big deal but could have been embarrassing all round. For the meal in the evening maybe more vegetables on the menu. As in green veg. Not sure SA is great if you are vegetarian.
The suite was excellent. Very modern, great layout. Despite just being off a busy road, the hotel is a real oasis and the location is great for the last stop before the airport but with easy access to Stellenbosch and Kalk Bay. The wine tasting/ wine is superb esp the Malbec. The breakfast was the best of the whole trip (stayed in 6 hotels). All the staff we met were lovely.

BelgiumIt was disappointing that our room didn't had a view. We had a jacuzzi but then it was surrounded by a white wall. That wall should be brought down. The outdoor space of the room was therefore disappointing, definitely compared to the other rooms who can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
One of the most beautiful sceneries i have ever seen.

Breakfast needs some work. Not as good as what I expected, especially after the superb dinner we enjoyed the previous evening. Enjoyed our beautifully appointed room, quiet, own pool, free beverages. Excellent.

SpainThe breakfast serving was disappointing. The lady that served us was not in mood for working. When she arrived with our eggs and bacon the table still had plates on that we had to move for her to another table and then she looked very annoyed. The young man tried to make up for her lack of energy.
The fine dining experience was amazing and well presented.

NetherlandsIt is a perfect place with the most kindest and hospitable people. The wines are phenomenal, with great tastes, beautiful wine-tasting rooms and very knowledgeable and kind wine experts. Amazing food and in general a beautiful place to walk around and be a part of the estate for a few days! Best stay!

IndiaThe food was excellent and straight from the farms in the property but that restricted the menu. I would have preferred a few easy eating options as well available round the clock.
It’s a beautiful, green, historical property with views of vineyards enveloped by majestic mountains.

United Kingdom- The location is quite far from Cape Town city centre. You should consider this. However, this served my purpose since it is located between Cape Town and Stellenbosch (a great escape from the city for romantic days).
I stayed there for 10 days during my honeymoon. To summarise my stay: - The staff is absolutely incredible! You will notice how friendly and helpful they are from the beginning. - Food was ok. Maybe because I had to be selective for religious restrictions. However, the staff made sure that my religious requirements are met! - The atmosphere is literally great! From sunrise to sunset, you would not wish to miss any opportunity to enjoy a tour around historic buildings upon which the hotel is located. - The suite amenities were 5-star equipped. - I would not say the price is lower than I expected, but it was a great value for money, compared to other options in Cape Town. Definitely this hotel will be my choice next times! Highly recommended.

The whole experience with h hotel was fantastic. It started by clear Whats App communication. Then at check in a bellman met us at the car and walked us straight into our rom with no front desk - first time ever & fantastic! They recommended a dinner at their restaurant which was out of this world, probably 10 courses! We were stuffed and it was lovely! The room was terrific, warm, and with an outdoor jacuzzi. Breakfast the next morning was a huge board of fruits, breads, and cereal plus anything hot we wanted, juices, cappuccinos and teas. Overall, every bit of a 5-star experience for us! THANK YOU!!

Beautiful, modern, spacious rooms, with a lounge and patio with heated jacuzzi. We stayed at the vineyard suites and it was luxury personified. Meals at both Geuwels and Clara’s barn were excellent. What stands out the most for us was the attention to detail, exceptional service and kindness of the those who work at the hotel and restuarant, made hubby’s birthday celebration very special and I am super grateful. Would definitely recommend. Other highlights, walking with the runner ducks, the spa and the lake.
