Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe restaurant was shut for refurbishments which we didn’t know about until the day before arrival. This meant that we couldn’t access ice and that there was less wood than promised on the property info. Staff were around for daytime hours. It not after 4.30. However when we did have an issue, staff were quick to respond. It also meant that we could access the restaurant during our stay.
The location, the peace and the hot tub. The decor was lovely and set up with pretty much everything you would need. Perfect for a remote get-away.

South AfricaSuch small things, I feel like if they trimmed the trees a little the view would be absolutely amazing. There were a lot of crickets in the room which we had to capture and release cause they are noisy 😂 but you’re out in nature so like what are you actually going to do about bugs? Just a heads up. There’s also a very modern looking panic button next to the bed that we thought was a light switch, so careful of that cause we set the very loud alarm off. Also make sure you bring your own ice, olive oil and any other condiments etc that you may need. Fridge is quite small so plan accordingly.
Great location! Modern facilities and everything you need. Hot tub is easy to use. The tent over the apartment keeps it nice and cool despite the heat of Paarl. Super comfy bed, aircon works well. Inverter for loadshedding. Super peaceful. We had a few issues with noise from the tent but the staff fixed it for us as soon as we communicated with them. We had the braai box and the steak was amazing, and I don’t even like steak! such great value for money. Easy check in if you read the instructions. Good communication.

ZambiaIt’s in a fantastic location. Under the mountains in a farm. Very safe. Very private. The host is super accommodating too. The Wagyu steals are divine. I suggest you choose your steaks when you arrive to collect the keys. Was a beautiful sunset.

United KingdomOur attempts at lighting the wood stove for the hot tub, using the firelighters which like the wood had been provided made it easier!
The perfect start to our time in South Africa. We had a super welcome when we arrived, we ate in the restaurant, wagyu open sandwich and a wagyu burger, delicious. We also had the 300g steak,.on another occasion, amazing. The staff were all friendly and happy to help in all matters when asked. The secluded lodge is away from it all, I'd recommend a hire car, although definitely an Uber to get to and from the Franschhoek Wine Tram, which is a great day out.

South AfricaIt was more the country's fault than anything BUT with the power cuts not having aircon in the room was super uncomfortable with the heat, you open the windows and mosquitos attack you so that was the only blemish, tough one to mark the venue down on because to have that running off grid isn't easily achieved but if you staying there in summer you have to note it. Perhaps some sort of fan that isn't reliant on the grid could be a solve.
The location, staff, aesthetic of the place, and cleanliness were all absolutely brilliant. The restaurant is a MUST DO if you a meat eater. Definitely go with the rib eye its unreal. We didn't get to mission around the farm a lot but its super peaceful, quite and well looked after. The room is magic, we will come back to this spot and I think we'd just hang around there instead of venturing around the surrounding area its so peaceful and well-equipped.

GermanyThe breakfast in the restaurant is a little boring and not very much - disappointing compared to other breakfasts we had in the hotels. The restaurant generally is a bit dark and the food selection does not really fit the design of the cottages - it is all very heavy meals, not a lot of healthy options. Also the Braai basket was a rather heavy collection of chips with a tiny salad.
Super nice cottage, great design and very cozy with a perfect view and location to be alone or watch the rabbits outside. The meat was very delicious!

United KingdomAlthough we knew it was remote, we didn't realise quite how remote. So it is a little unnerving to begin with, especially as we are from a big city. But we got used to it and then the peace and tranquility was a bonus.
The lodge was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and stylish. With excellent outdoor space and incredible views.

RussiaYou can come here only by car and this property has no reception. Very limited breakfast options: you cannot choose anything, they just bring you English breakfast. There are a lot of better options for the same money nearby.

NetherlandsWe booked the day before and received a mail which said you can order a braai box and wine. We therefore did not bring anything. But when we called to order they said you had to order food a day in advance, and they did not have a liquor license so could not offer wine. For breakfast or dinner you have to go 1km downhill to the restaurant. Our suggestion: book this place anyway because it is stunning, but come well equipped with food and drinks.
What a stunning location! On the mountain above the farm, they have 2 secluded cottages. They are modern and very beautiful with a bed, well equipped kitchen and beautiful bathroom. There is a nice terrace, a braai area, and a hot tub with a spectacular view. It is hot upon arrival.

South AfricaWe wished for ice for our wine, but there wasn't any. We expected two bags of firewood, found only one, so no evening fire. More breakfast options at the restaurant would be nice. Despite these minor issues, we'll definitely return to Wagyu Mountain Lodge!
This cabin has an ideal location with stunning views. It's clean, the bed is very comfortable, and the hot tub, positioned beautifully among the rocks in front of the cabin, is amazing. Highly recommend for couples and romantic getaways.
