We loved everything, so nothing we didn't like

We loved that the host thought of everything, the fridge in the kitchen was fully stocked with an extensive variety fresh fruits, yogurts, cheeses and hams along with eggs etc We also loved having braai's, the drinks fridge was also stocked with wines, beers and soft drinks and plenty snacks to purchase, so we didn't need to go shopping for this. The facilities were spacious and so comfortable, we also loved how accessible local restaurants were in walking distance as well Jane, the host was always hands on and always made sure her hosts were happy. Outstanding service

Perfectly situated close to the airport and within walking distance to several restaurants. Safe secure home away from home. Beautiful gardens and stylishly decorated guest house. Jane is a gracious host who goes above and beyond to see that you are well looked after. Our guest house of choice in Port Elizabeth we will definitely be returning.

Jane was an amazing host. Very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. The checkin was very detailed and she explained everything we needed to know. The fridge was stocked with light foods and drinks for breakfast. Rooms were cleaned daily. She went out of her way to make our stay great and she even allowed my mum to do some washing. I will definitely be going back when I visit PE again. THANK YOU JANE.

Could do something to make the floors in the bathrooms less slippery when wet. Other than that nothing negative to add.

The owner and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The self service breakfast was just perfect and the overall location for our needs was spot on. Having power backup was a great bonus.

Nothing at all, everything was excellent.

The welcoming we received was exceptional, and it was interesting and enjoyable chatting to the owner Jane and her husband. The property and accommodation is immaculate in a very pleasant area. Our room was extremely clean, comfortable, and spacious. The other facilities, including the lounge and kitchen are fantastic, and all our needs were well catered for. The self-service breakfast was impressive, with a large variety of choice including eggs, bread/toast, and a good selection of cereals, jams, spreads, cheese, meat, yogurts, fresh fruit etc. There are also many restaurants close by, including the Hussar Grill which is superb, and it is right across the road. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay which felt like a real home from home experience.

We had an absolutely marvelous time at Whistlewood Guesthouse. Jane's hospitality was beyond compare, truly making our stay unforgettable. We would definitely visit again, without a second thought!

We appreciated very much the welcoming and friendliness of our host. We immediately felt home! It is a charming house with more amenities than you would expect. The house is perfectly maintained and decorated with taste. The swimming pool and the garden are ideal for relaxing. The location is in a safe district, 5 min away from the airport. There is a very good restaurant located just aside to the street.

Great accommodation in a gracious, beautifully renovated home. Loved the shared kitchen, dining, lounge and outdoor areas. The host Jane and her assistant Marc could not have done more to ensure our last moment stay was happy and safe. All the makings of a great health breakfast and coffee were supplied and the garden and pool are just beautiful. We walked across the road to a restaurant for dinner. The home has a wonderful story attached to it. Great stay, excellent hosting, will definitely return.

Jane and Pierre have created a marvellous home from home for their guests. Whistlewood is pleasantly located in its own grounds with a nice pool and secure parking. There are plenty of amenities such as restaurants within walking distance or a short Uber ride away. The rooms and communal areas are spotless and very tastefully decorated with Africana and period furniture. WiFi is good and our hosts passed on plenty of local information to guide our travels. A comprehensive continental breakfast is included and a well-stocked communal minibar is also available. Jane and Pierre are very engaging and chat away to their guests, quickly becoming friends. One earlier review mentioned 'hard beds'. Obviously this is subjective but we found both our beds to be just right: both because we liked Whistlewood so much we returned for two days to another room! Definitely would return.

The mattress was maybe a bit hard, this is the only comment IRT potential improvement the rest is just “the best” keep up the high standard you have established !!!

The communal areas are communal! So you share the lounge, dining room and pool. Note: check when booking that you book the en-suite rooms which are larger and have the comfort of a bathroom connected to the bedroom.

The property was very clean, very well appointed (with everyone from a fully stocked fridge to a medical kit), fluffy towels and comfortable bed. Very well positioned within walking distance from shops and restaurants.

The house was amazing, so beautifully furnished and equipped! The kitchen was lovely and filled with great breakfast options to everyone's taste. We wished we could have stayed longer just to explore all of them. Jane was also so kind to take us downtown to see some places located in not so safe area, as she wanted to make sure we're okay. Best host ever! As promised, next time we'll stay longer and visit Batman (the pinguin ❤️)
