Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe shower was not working, the place needs a bit tlc. There was no power so the host has a generator to power up the place but for limited times..... considering all the downs i think it was over priced.
The host was very friendly and helpful. Many activities to do like fishing at the lake, bow and arrow, pool table tennis etc. Stunning view. Peace and quiet.

South AfricaRooms could do with an update and thorough clean, found a lot of insects and cobwebs in the corners. Porch could use better lighting. Children's play area could be revamped, some of the jungle gym equipment is not safe. Pool could have a safety gate around the perimeter to safeguard against accidents.
Lots of activities to do on site. Beautiful scenery. Exceptional garden and plants around the vacinity. Children loved the open areas. Very friendly and helpful staff.x

South AfricaWhat was supposed to be only a pitstop turned out to be a weeklong Halt in Green meadows & waters where I truly have found rest. Upon arrival at White Mountain Resort, with your first standing still moment, there is the greeting of a picturesque Mountain that flaunts high above the mirrored fish waters, which befriends you the moment you lay eyes on it. This scene constantly forces you to take a deep breath, to take in everything. Then there is also the friendly greeting of White Mountain's dogs, - no, "kids": Pirot, Blondy and Buxy, the 3 musketeers. Just like their boss, Ken, the host, they make sure you are satisfied throughout your stay, cared for and calm. On the widespread acres of land, inside every beautiful, tastefully and spaciously designed building, chalet/rondavel, are fingerprints of love & personal touch. It is a place of giving unto its guests & its community, a place of heart and your heart & mind will receive & be refreshed. White Mountain resort with its people, dogs, visiting cows, cats & kittens, workers, braai fires & born fires, chats, laughter & nostalgia, friendly good morning greetings, the sound of jackals & -geese honking at night, the beautiful scenery & warm personal touch, reinvites another appreciation for life in you. Thank you, Ken, for your kindness & hospitality. And Trevor, who also resides there looking after the security & safety of everyone, thank you for the soul & humour. I surely will revisit again.

South AfricaThe 4 sleeper units are not up to scratch. Best opt for a 5 sleeper. Well worth the price

South AfricaThe main promblem that we were facing during our stay was the load shedding, but we understand that it is an issue that is affecting the whole country, but ithink they must buy generetor so that they will manage this issue, but the owner did proveded us with some lighters at night we highly thank him for that.
The breakfast was so delicious it came at a cheap price also the chefs who was serving us was so freindly, even their activities that they're offering we enjoyed them so much, especial the swimming and floating in a dam, indees it was a lifetime expirience, The owner was so freindly we felt so safe arround his property. I will definetely recommend this accomodations to my neloved.

South AfricaWas told there was no power after we had left. The generator was put on for a few hours in the afternoon. Milk & meat got spoiled . Had to leave the second day. The numerous cats & dogs was a pain. Could not leave doors & windows open the cats got in . Bookings . com did not deduct the payment we had to find cash to pay for accom. There was no mtn or cell c network to do the transfer. The roads to the premises was a nightmare ( plenty of potholes). The unit was not cleaned has it had a lot of spiders & cobwebs. No staff on premises besides the manager. The grass was not cut & there was a lot of cow dung & dog mess every where. Will not recommend this place as it needs to be renovated.

This place was meant to be like a off the grid living with a beautiful lake with boating and fishing is it indeed was ! For ones who are looking for time off from the busy city life this is the place. We did archery’s, pool game, table tennis, dart, zip lining etc., It was a complete rewind ! Please don’t go there if you’re expecting luxurious living! Ken and Martin were beautiful hosts

South AfricaI didn't like anything about the place, we were too disappointed nothing worked there everything was broken, the charlet we stayed in was filthy, the toilet was broken, we had no electricity. I had booked for 4 nights but we only stayed 2 nights and we left. We couldn't risk with our health, we got sick there, they don't change the bedding when a person checks out, our bedding was dirty when we got there the place was smelling bathroom was too dirty. Most of all their attitude stinks they are very rude. I regret booking there, total waste of my time and money I don't know Why Booking.com still advertise this place cos this is day light robbery. White mountain Resort needs to shut down immediately and health inspectors needs to visit this place. When we were there we couldn't breathe, coughing, continously sneezing but since we are home we are feeling fine. If I can just get my full refund I will be so happy because white mountain Resort are crooks they don't tell you about this issue of not having electricity while booking, you are only told when u are there we suffered alot. The place is full of cats and dogs the smell of dirty animals when opening the door 🤢our food got spoiled coz of not having electricity. We were traumatized I will never book there again, please good people cancel your booking if you know what is good for you, worse stay ever.
The location was good.

South Africawe arrived at the cottage there was no lights for over a week as the owner explained. we travelled for 8 hours to get there and we were cold and it was rainy we were told to wait till 6pm till they can put the generator on and then they will switch it off at 12 midnight. the place did not look safe we packed our car with our kids and left. the owner should have disclosed that there was no light and the from our room we had a path way leading to the township and back it was no a safe environment for me and my 3 kids to stay with my husband. the place was dull and horrible. we left and went to Escourt and we paid in advance so therefore we lost out on our accommodation money and had to in cure more cost.
