Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyLong way to get to the lodge Besides the lions at the lodge we didn’t see that many of the bigger animals around the lodge at the game drives. In this area there are no giraffes, buffalo, etc. but you see them in the valley on your way to the meeting point of the lodge. So the game drives around the lodge area were a bit disappointing.
Very special and terrific place and location Great atmosphere and views Lions at the lodge New pool, small but enough for refreshing in the middle of nowhere

United KingdomNothing at all. At first I missed internet and phone connectivity but that was one of the best things about it in the end. You can totally disconnect!
Xaus is a special place, a step towards giving the San Community their dignity and land back. Our proud San guides were terrific. They are so passionate and knowledgeable about their land and its animal life. Donovan and Koos really made us feel welcome and taught us many things about the long and proud history of the Bushmen people. We will be back.

AustraliaStated in brochure we will visit a tradional bushman village. I was very disapponted as for men sitting there making curios and selling them is not a tradional village. I felt cheated and there was misrepresentation.
Our guide was excellent, staff was very friendly and lodge is at a good location

GermanyAmazing location! Not fenced, the animals come really close to the Lodge. At night you hear the lions roar. The price for the night includes different game drives (i.e. Sundowner, morning walk and Night drive)

United KingdomNot staying more nights. There was nothing to complain about at !Xaus, it was excellent and surpassed expectations.
Difficult to describe our 3 night stay in !Xaus other that it was a true life experience. The atmosphere was spiritual and emotional, the view across the salt pan was a wonder to behold. The magic of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park is palpable in this magic part of South Africa. The knowledgeable staff (Koos and Donovan) added significant bushman depth to our experience.

The beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings, the wonderful hosts Anthony and Susie, the exceptional staff, the brilliant guide Castro, and the comfortable lodge despite it being in the middle of nowhere.

South AfricaI think the lodge is overdue for some freshening up, but I'm sure that is on the cards. It will take time for this industry to recover from the losses due to Covid.
iXaus was really surprisingly a very special place! Warmth of staff, delicious meals, the reason this place exists, resonates strongly. Stayed 2 nights. Planned as a "once-off" visit - but i am sure we will find a reason to return one day to feel the magic again! Sundowners drive was beautiful with drinks and snacks provided!

South AfricaThe weather, but did warm up on the second day
Breakfast great but perhaps more fruit and healthy food should be offered. The tours and guides were excellent. Also enjoyed the history of the area and the accommodation

United StatesIt would have been nice to have a final morning walk on the day we left.
The staff and management were a joy to talk and stay with. The meals were simply great. Don't miss the omelet breakfast. I believe our morning wall was my favorite.

BelgiumThe location is unique of course, but I never overspend more money than on this lodge. Sorry to say so... The chalets need an update. It was cold and although I saw terrace heaters, they were not used. The "Craftmanship village was a joke. Game drives limited to 1 hour nightdrive and 2 hours sunset drive (hardly any animal spotted, but this is not the fault of the lodge of course) If this was half the price I paid, I would give it a 9 though...
The location of course... couldn't be more remote and disconnected from the outside world. Beautiful nature. Hendrik was a great guide.
