From the beginning till the end, it was an amazing experience ! The host and his family are wonderful people. We slept in a house that has been standing for over 200 years, bathing in history and quietness. We've been served exquisite dishes by the host, whose cooking skills are tremendous. We strongly recommend this ryokan for a unique experience.

The view from the room was magnificent. The Onsen was definitely one of the best I ever saw in Japan. It's very much more than just a pool of hot water! Even though staff hardly spoke English, they took the extra mile to understand our requests and meet them. Breakfast was delicious (Japanese stile)

Onsen was fantastic after we had walked the Nakasendo trail for 5 days. Room size was small but functional. Not too far from train station and close to some good restaurants. Buffet breakfast was very good. Shoe lockers were very cute.

Amazing experience staying at Keiko-san's guest house. She was so kind to our 8 month old son, and made sure we had everything we needed. After walking the Nakasendo way, we were treated to the most incredible kaiseki dinner. We slept so well on the tatami beds. Sad we only stayed one night, but it was anone truly memorable part of our trip.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a Ryokan kind of experience minus the onsen. The location is right in the middle of town. The room was old style with a tatami. Order dinner and breakfast because the experience is worth it and there is nothing open around town.

located right on the main street of Magome-juku, Magome Chaya is a great place for a nights rest in the historic post town before heading on the way to your next destination. The rooms are clean, japanese style with tatami mats and futons. You have ample space to stretch out, and there are common rooms for you to mingle. I particularly enjoyed watching the sunrise in the morning, when the town is quiet. The stores close early, but they serve an exceptional dinner in the restaurant (highly recommend).

If your going to walk from Magome to Tsumago, this is a nice place to stay. It’s a Ryokan, so your sleeping on futons, but very comfortable and a nice expirience. The staff is very friendly, and the dinner & breakfast are super, do go for this option. Air conditioning was a treat as well.

Located in the middle of Magome, we stayed in an old traditional Japanese inn. The room was cosy with tatami mats and foldable beds. Our room had an on-Suite toilet. The views were nice. Japanese dinner and breakfast were included and delicious. Already an experience in its own. There was an onsen bath which was nice (it was organised with a time slot for privacy). You could have normal showers in the morning too. The staff were lovely. Everything was well organised.

I loved the bar and complementary drink, I met a lot of people there and chat with the barman Yuu for a long time! The whole building was beautiful, with traditional rooms (tatami, futon and all that) and yet modern and functional services, which allowed a perfect stay. Ps 2 min away from the station that brings you all along the Nakasendo trail and more, amazing location!

The place is essentially a ryokan in the lovely village of Magome. We came for one night to do some hiking and loved the facilities. They even have a onsen (even if it was too hot for me to use) on site.
