All rooms all soundproof and air-conditioned, and fitted with a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an attached bathroom. It was our first onsen experience and it was superb! You have a very great view of the lake. Room is very spacious. It's our first time as well to stay at a traditional Japanese room, wear yukata and it was a great experience. Excellent dinner and breakfast. They can pick you up at the train station which is very convenient.

Ogoto Onsen, Otsu
The Japanese-style rooms have tatami (woven-straw) flooring with modern furnishings and futon bedding. Each room features a private bathroom with a bathtub made of Cypress wood, filled with hot water from the local hot spring. What’s not to like… we had the best room in the ryokan, super spacious room, had a huge bathroom, shower and a private open air onsen. We had a living room and a bedroom, the space we had was probably bigger than our apartment back home! Dinner and breakfast was beautifully presented, I literally was so relaxed I lost myself there. Wish I booked it for more than one night!

Very close to station, in a quiet village.
We arrived there by our bike and was allowed to store our bike inside guest house in a storage place near entrance.
Breakfast was delicious and full, traditional Japanese style.
Though owner is quiet, he is helpful, answer email promptly.
He gave me a paper box when I asked for my personal use. There is a kettle for boiling water, good for me as I like to drink hot water. There is a sink in balcony, so simple washing and brushing teeth can be done in room. A warm reminder to future guests: there are a few interestingly looking restaurants near by, but all need reservations before hand. We can't try. Do book.

The staff was super friendly and we managed to communicate in English (with a little help from google) Breakfast and dinner were very good and not too expensive (1100¥ breakfast, 2200¥ dinner) The bathroom is shared with a sento feel to it which makes it great. Bedding is very comfortable and the kimono they offer look dope! Would 100% come back

Onsen and the service. Food is beyond amazing. The tatami is excellent.
The meals provided were great. The view was fantastic as well. Enjoyed the onsens very much. Rooms were big and clean with comfy beds and futons.
Check in was right on time and shuttle pickup was smooth- journey took about 5 min from ogotoonsen station. We requested for halal meals and were very pleased with the array of traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. The private bath in the room was great too with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved the tatami and futon prepared carefully and the facial wash, toner and moisturiser included in the toiletries 🥰
Very wide studio room with amenities just enough for travelers. But get your own toiletries- toothbrush and paste, etc. The room was clean and no bad odors. The futon and sleeping sheets were clean and comfortable. I had a very good sleep after a long day of hiking. The building also offers an onsen for guests for free (I didn't try, so can't comment about it). The staff at the lobby was very accommodating, polite, and helpful. Thank you very much!
Lovely traditional style budget ryokan near a large strip of restaurants. There is an onsen which you can use privately as long as no one else is using it at the time. The manager is awesome, he offers you a lift to the station when you checkout which we greatly appreciated. There are some bikes you can rent for free, but make sure you ask early. It was great value for money.
Traditional Japanese onsen and tatami. Hard to find elsewhere, very good experience for me.
An absolute blissful time at Biwako Hanakaido. Comfy and pretty yukatas to wear. Excellent service from all staff, with free shuttle to Ogoto-Onsen Train Station. Delicious kaiseki meals and soothing onsens to enjoy. Great that you could book a private Onsen for yourself for a fee of 2750 yen (50 mins) and get a massage after while you're at it for a reasonable fee of 7000 yen. Beautiful zen gardens and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time.
attentive staff, great private onsen, great room view overlooking Biwako, comfortable futons
shuttle bus that took you to and from the train station to the hotel, food was exquisite, service was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff, rooms were very clean and nice and comfortable, private and public baths were clean and beautiful, public onsen was open throughout the night, yukata and Haori were both very comfortable!
