It was very clean, very local to. Town very very basic but just somewhere cheap to stay for the weekend.
Domestic travellers can reach Croydon by train from London Victoria (15 minutes) or by car via the M25 (22km). International visitors can fly into Gatwick Airport, then take a direct train to Croydon (20 minutes).
The most convenient airport for both domestic and international travellers to reach Croydon is Gatwick Airport, due to its proximity (approximately 27 km) and excellent transport links to the town.
Croydon, UK, offers diverse public transport options. Tramlink services connect to Wimbledon and Beckenham. Frequent buses serve local areas, while National Rail links to London and beyond. Alternatively, cycling is supported by dedicated lanes. Walking is feasible for short distances. For longer journeys, consider driving or hiring a taxi.
East Croydon is a popular area to stay due to its excellent transport links, including direct trains to London. It's also home to the Boxpark, a hub of food and entertainment, making it a vibrant and convenient location for visitors.
Shopping Destination with Convenient Station
Midway between central London and Gatwick Airport, Croydon is a shopping haven. Hundreds of stores are found under the glass-roofed Whitgift Centre and the even more modern Centrale complex.
This thriving retail industry is one factor contributing to the town being London’s 3rd most important business area, so naturally it has its fair share of skyscrapers. Also tall is the red-brick Croydon Clocktower, housing the town museum, and attached to the town hall overlooking Queen’s Gardens.
Opposite is Fairfield Halls, a large arts venue behind which run train lines connecting East Croydon Station to London Victoria in one direction, and Gatwick and Brighton in the other. Modern trams also link the town to other suburbs. Croydon used to have its own airport (once more important than Heathrow) and its former terminal is a museum open one Sunday a month.
The town minster houses tombs of some archbishops of Canterbury and their summer residence was Croydon Palace, now a school. Much more famous is the BRIT School which has nurtured musical artists including Adele, Jessie J and Katie Melua.
The Croydon accommodation on Booking.com includes 4-star hotels with pools, guest houses with parking and cheap apartments. In the Borough of Croydon are Addington, home of an opulent palace, and neighbouring Shirley with its Grade II-listed windmill.

I grew up near Croydon and it has changed a great deal, It has good transport and access to shops. It is fairly built up in some areas but has a good community spirit and some older buildings do remain.
Coulsdon is in a more leafy part of the borough and I enjoyed staying in the Coulsdon Manor Hotel.

Everything was amazing but only reason I would not give a 5 star is because the curtains were not black out as advised and their were street lights right opposite window which was super annoying inside door did not lock either so put a chair infront for peace of mind. Staff were attentive, happy, and smiling.

The only small problem I noticed was the taps on the sink.
The only small problem I noticed was the taps on the sink. They were not far enough forward in the bowl, so difficult to get your hands, toothbrush etc under. Also the water therefore run onto the surface instead into the bowl.

I only come here because I have relatives in the city otherwise I would not be seen dead here - mind you, with all the knife stabbings that go on in Croydon, that´s always a possibility. A two word description of Croydon would end in hole!
The location is one of the most attractive features of these apartments, right opposite East Croydon Station (one stop from Gatwick) with regular services into London Bridge and Victoria. Enjoyed living in a block where other residents were permanent residents, not holiday makers. Appreciated the dishwasher, washing/dryer machine within the apartment. Reception staff (who don't work for Charles Hope) are very friendly and courteous as are the Charles Hope Guest Services staff whom we contacted by phone and email when issues arose.
Location was really great and quiet. It was close to the bus that got us to a Tube station and in central London in about 40 minutes. When we arrived we called the owner/host and she graciously and generously came to the train station and picked us up and brought us to the hotel to check in. We felt so taken care of. The value of this hotel is amazing and it feels like you're coming home each night to your own flat. For sure will stay here again!
Breakfast is good. Wi-Fi is fast. The staff are very helpful. If you are driving in London, then it's a great location. They have parking onsite with lots of space. This hotel is near a commercial center with quite a few options of restaurants, within a walking distance (only 5mins walking). It's not far to East Croydon Station (about 8 mins by taxi), and from there you can take one of the express trains and be in the city center quite quickly.
The service of the staff was excellent. Specially the guy named Manoj (serves in restaurant and breakfast area), he was truly exceptional and was always wearing smile on his face while serving.
Ms Garima (at reception) was kind hearted and amazing, she was always ready to help and suggest things to do in London.
Overwhelmed to see the service of all the staff members there.
Thanks a lot for making our stay wonderful!
Hotel very close to East Croydon train station is the first positive. Hotel is in walking distance to the City Centre. Room size, Staff and breakfast are all good. This is the second time I have stayed here. Ms.Mariyana from the breakfast area has to be mentioned here for the way she welcomes guests for breakfast with a gentle smile. Also, she makes sure that we are not left wanting for something. Always happy to help.
The breakfast was exceptionally good and far surpassed our expectations. All the hot buffet items were fresh and good quality - also piping hot. We ate a simple supper in the hotel and there was plenty to choose from on the menu for the traveller in need of sustenance - it wasn't AA star but was well thought out and delicious. We certainly didn't expect that of a standard business class hotel.
our flight from Gatwick was cancelled late evening. The hotel was a short train ride from the airport with a 24hr open reception. Very accessible and much cheaper than hotels closer to the airport. Quiet room. The staff were very friendly (especially the breakfast staff) which makes a welcome change. Breakfast was good with a great variety of bread.
Really enjoyed our stay,me and my son went to the womens league cup final at selhurst park and this hotel was the perfect location. Room was nice and clean and tidy, food was excellent ,breakfast especially. Staff were very friendly and attentive ,parking safe ,nearby restaurants were good, all in all would definately stay again.
The property was on a quiet residential street, close to a tram platform that had consistent trams going to East Croydon Station where we could find connections to London. it was well thought out, decorated nicely and had a more modern updated bathroom. Matt and Beverly were awesome!
You get what you pay for. And this is a cheap hotel. Having said that, I understand the high rating it has. Communication was perfect, everything was super clean. There was coffee, water, cookies, etc
The bed was not too good, but that is only downside. I’d still happily go back
The receptionist Rose was outstanding in sorting out queries promptly and efficiently. Welcoming and professional.
Great breakfast with a nice variety of options.(if booking online, cheaper to book room only and add breakfast as an upgrade to pay at hotel once booking confirmed)
I didn’t like anything about the property,
I was very disappointed, because the place doesn’t look good, very dirty, the place smells so bad that I couldn’t stay there, I had check in at the nearest premier inn hotel., I paid £259 over for such a disgusting place…
I picked it because it was cheap, in Croydon. It is about 1 hour with public transport from big ben. Room nr 1 was comfortable and large. Breakfast: jam, bread, milk, orange juice, instant coffee, tea, cereals, fruits.
My thoughts about the breakfast, there was absolutely nothing to eat for breakfast, as EasyHotel East Croydon doesn't provide breakfast to customers. There's not even a lounge to sit or eat in. The location was great
