Umma House has a terrace and is situated in Lamu, within just 300 metres of Lamu Museum and 500 metres of Lamu Fort. Guests staying at this villa have access to a balcony. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and 18th Century Swahili House Museum is 100 metres away.

The house is a beautiful gem within old lamu town. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are freshened by fans and the pool is great to escape the day’s heat. The house staff is incredibly helpful and Peter was a great caretaker. We would also warmly recommend arranging a tour of the old town and of shela, as well as a boat tour if one wishes, with Abu. Abu is knowledgeable and loves his job; he is a great storyteller and a great artist (ask to see his recycled art). Walking around Lamu with him and learning about this unique place from him was a wonderful experience.

The staff and manager of the house so helpful. Lots of advice and recommendations where to eat. Also easy to find in the maze of Lamu, close to the jetty but far enough for a peaceful stay

This villa was gorgeous, in the historic Swahili style of Lamu. We had the loveliest time here. The location is relatively quiet though you are in the middle of town - we walked everywhere easily. There is also good Wi-Fi which was great for us as we were working remotely on some of the days. The rooftop has a lovely breeze and sitting area where the Wi-Fi reaches. There is also a very nice sitting area around the small pool. Jamhuri, who welcomed us on arrival, was friendly and easy to communicate with. With enjoyed every moment of our stay and I would definitely return again.

Delicious home made breakfast from the in house bakery, a great team to look after you and a lovely airy place with lots of calm spaces to escape the heya and hustle of the village. I 100% recommend Jua House, especially for solo travelers and those wishing to avoid the hassle of renting a house.

Bayt Qaflh was such a nice little retreat! We spend hours on the roof terasse, which I believe has the best view in Shela. Our host organised a boat airport-pickup for us, had a coworker meet us (Hakim was extremely nice) and we received a full list of great recommendations. Bayt Qaflh really allowed us to relax and disconnect for a few days.

Stop over is one of the first guest houses you notice when arriving in shella situated directly on the oceanfront. It is such a great place! Very nice rooms clean, and beautifully furnished. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly! Breakfast was decent! The view of the ocean from the guest house was simply mind-blowing!!! For sure the best place to stay in Shella for that price bracket, talking from experience having visited a couple others before which are way inside the village. Will definitely come back here! Highly recommended

The staff, food and overall ambience made our visit one of the nicest stays we’ve had in a long time. Immaculate facilities. The place is just so tastefully decorated and well thought out. Morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the harbour…. The village of Shela is lovely. No cars. Clean beaches.

All the staff are soo friendly and helpful🥰. Location is perfect,in Shella village where it is calm and quiet... and within walking distance from the jetty and places for quick bites...the place is clean with some of the best rooftop views in Shella Island🥰 You also get hot showers since the island can get a little cold sometimes. Accepts multiple payment options - card, cash, mpesa etc.

The serenity and beauty of the resort is what blew us away and made our stay extra special. So many cozy nooks in the villas to relax in, take a photo, put your feet up or read a book. The suite we stayed in was so cozy and had in our view the best view on the island. The Majlis staff are extremely polite and hardworking. We were impressed and enjoyed having conversations with them from time to time.

Jua Hse facilities are clean and within reason, staff is exceptionally friendly and the location is perfect. Short of looking for a luxury vacation destination, this is your best bet. Even the little things like packing you a basket with essentials for a beach excursion, and the on-site bakery.

This is a very nice guesthouse with friendly helpful staff. We had a room with shuttered windows on three sides and a balcony. Our view was across the water and in the street below we watched the boats coming and going, people at work with their donkeys, children swimming in the sea. Right next door is a great restaurant. Lamu is buzzing with life without mass tourism. A boat ride to Shela village takes you to a more conventional beachfront holiday. It is lovely there and the food and wine delightful.
