“Loved the stay here, we had the most perfect little two person cabin, with a lovely hammock outside, we spent most of our time here, we saw so much wildlife! Including toucans right at our door! And the wifi was really good because our cabin was right near the router. We had the cheapest accommodation going for this hotel, and it was really nice, very safe and secure, a massive bathroom with everything you need, the wooden wardrobe was really beautiful. Was a bit of a shame we got two single beds instead of a double, so was bit uncomfortable because of this factor, we couldn't even push them together. The only let down was the comfort of the beds, but everything else was great, the staff are all really lovely and friendly! Simple but sweet complimentary breakfast of toast and fruit and eggs. We did not eat in the Retaurant for dinner but he menu did look amazing! Lots of vegetarian options. The best quality of this place is the surroundings and grounds which are kept lovely and the pool area is really beautiful. A bit of a walk into town but easy to rent bikes or walk! The rustic dark sand beach is right opposite the hotel, really nice to walk down.”

“My partner and I stayed at Casitas La Playa for almost 10 days. I teach English online and wanted to make sure I had a place with decent WiFi, which is rare for a guesthouse. But the owner went out of her way to help accommodate us. She even provided an extension cord that I could use in the room. The best time of the day to use the internet was before 8am or after 8pm. The room was comfortable and clean! It definitely got hot when we cooked inside, but we were able to hang out in the super comfy hammock or the chairs just outside of the room. The beach is right at your front door, and I was luckily enough to see a few beautiful sunrises. The beach isn't for swimming, but if you walk 10 minutes away you hit Cocles beach which is great for surfing and swimming. It's about 10 minutes walk from town which we easily walked to and from every day. Just an FYI Rocking Js is next door and often has loud music playing in the evenings (but it was usually quiet by 11pm). Everyone was very accommodating and we had a lovely time for our whole stay. I would definitely recommend the place.”

The rooms were kept very clean and cozy, having a outdoor kitchen made it great for cooking some of our own meals and just enjoying the jungle surroundings. Our hosts Joe and Shevonne were wonderful, had nothing but good suggestions for everything from good restaurants to check out to what excursions were fun. Shevonne also makes a amazing banana bread. I highly recommend Casitas Las Flores to anyone looking for a jungle get-away just minutes from the main strip of Puerto Viejo”

She was kind, welcoming, warm hearted and eager to answer any questions and provide assistance however she could. I planned to stay one week but will end up staying just over two, having recently moved to town I couldn't ask for a better environment to ease my transition to life in PV. I have already recommended this quaint little slice of heaven to numerous friends and fellow travelers, so rest assured your experience here will be a positive one!”

“I booked 3 nights at Korrigan lodge, but as I liked it so much I stayed one night longer. There are only 4 bungalows which gives you a lot of privacy. The bungalows are lovely decorated and had everything you could ask for. The bed is very comfortable. There is also a hammock on the patio I used every morning to listen to the jungle music😉 The bathroom is very clean and good water pressure, even hot water. For breakfast you get homemade yogurt with granola, freshly baked bread, eggs any choice and on some days also freshly baked croissants. Did I mention the huge fruit plate and juices? The owners Irena, Patrick and Ivo are very friendly and helpful, they made me feel like family. They are fluent in English, French, German and I suppose Spanish🤗 The location is between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo which you can both easily reach by bus, walking, or better, by bike. There are a couple of restaurants close by and the most beautiful beach in that area Punta Uva. I can recommend the guided tour with Florentino in Manzanillo, very good tourguide. I would definetely come back to Korrigan when I am in the area and wish the owners all the best, Pura Vida🤗”

“The hosts were very helpful and eager to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Since I arrived late at the bus station in puerto viejo and I was traveling on my own, they were kind enough to pick up and take me to the property. In addition, they arranged local activities such as surf, snorkeling and scuba diving for me, with best price and location tips. As Puerto Viejo is pretty crowded and therefore the beach a bit dirty, I appreciated a lot more the beach of Punta Uva where the property is located. They say it's the most beautiful beach in the whole region - together with one of the best places for snorkeling thanks to the reef. It's easily accessible by bus or taxi from Puerto Viejo. Should one feel sporty, there's a place where you can rent a bike near the property. As for food, there are some very good restaurants near by, such as Bamboocha or Refugio. A supermarket around 5 minutes walk can provide you with the daily stuff or a couple of beach articles. Waking up with the sound of birds such as tucanes or black monkeys - accompanied by the sea waves is one of the best feelings one can get on the Carribean Coast. The place is very quiet and relaxing - perfect for dreaming or enjoying the nature.”

Resting in the hammock while the hummingbirds flew around was awesome! Casa Merlin has an excellent location, walking for about 400-600 meters inside the exuberant vegetation leads you in one of the most beautiful beaches (between Punta Cocles and Playa Chiquita). In the vicinity you will find a few convenience stores and small restaurants, reachable cycling or even walking. However, you won´t regret it if you decide to rent a car! Costa Rica´s Caribbean Coast is absolutely lovely, beautiful turquoise-hot-water beaches and incredibly nice and decent people. Just one recommendation: bring as little as possible to the beach and Do Not leave your stuff unattended! They got a couple petty thief who come from the bushes to grab bags or backpacks, naive people (like us), left on the sand while bathing. As counterpart they also got an incredible quick-response and helpful Tourist Police. All in all, we have had enjoyed from a wonderful and memorable holidays there!!”

The Cocles beach is better than PVejo beach, so it's a little bit of a walk(10 mins) to the best beach I've ever seen- Cocles! But if u just want to go to the main beach it's less than 5 mins. Stuff is super friendly and nice, flexible with your requirements and answer all sorts of questions to help to manage your trip! There are 2 floors house, big dinner table, good kitchen, shower room and 3 other rooms (1 dorm and 2 private) are on the first floor. The other dorm room - where I was staying was on the second floor. It is big, there are 5 beds in there, shower and toilet. It has a terrace with hammock right outside the room. Hostel is placed in beautiful jungle garden. Have seen Humming birds, even toucan ! I loved the nature sounds when u fall asleep. There are a lot of air- high seilings! You can use 2 showers up and downstairs. Free coffee all day. Manager is very helpful, just ask her any questions! I really enjoyed my stay in puerto Viejo. I stayed 1 night then they didn't have a dorm room so I didn't want to pay more and I moved to the other hostel for10$~ regretted it a lot...- don't go to La Ruka. Ppl are nice but the rooms were horrible! Dark, no ventilation, smells bad Bc of dampness, beds are not comfortable pillows are too hard and big- didn't feel any rest for the night, so I came back to Spanish by the sea again. If you are looking for a quiet place- that's the one!”

“Above all the best hosts we've ever met. We were greatly welcomed by Miguel and Marta. They explained everything about the house and provided us with fresh water and fruits. We got hints about what to see and where we can rent bicycles. Great location in real jungle forest, close to playa cocles, there are tucans, hummingbirds flying above your head. Howling monkeys on treetops. The house had a beautiful garden and the living room was literally outside under the roof with a garden view. The kitchen had everything, even a blender which comes useful when you have so many fruits around. The house had its own outside bar which was a cool feature. Beds were comfortalbe and bathroom was ok.There was also a washing machine and a dryer. The internet connection speed was fine if that's important to you.”
