“I had reserved a basic room and a superior room as there were no more basic rooms available. When we arrived the receptionist imediately upgraded our son`s room to a superior one (at no extra cost) so he could be next to us. I thought that was a very kind gesture. Our room was brand new, had a state of the arts bathroom with a wonderful shower, but what we loved the most were the spectacular views of the old wall. We even had fantastic views of the old city from the loo !! It was so nice being able to park easily and free of charge as parking in the historic part of the city is a nightmare. There is a good restaurant right next door to the hotel and also a petrol station which was remarkably clean and quiet. The hotel in on the road to Madrid which made life very easy for us as we had to drive back early in the morning. Despite having the road in front of the hotel, we couldn`t hear a thing because the double glazing was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.”

“Our stay in Avila was on the return leg of our road trip through France & Spain. I knew from a visit last spring that our location would be good but I didn’t know until I arrived it would be perfect, overlooking the beautiful square with its church at one end and the city wall and gateway at the other. There is a danger that I’ll use the word “perfect” all the time with this review and it is fully justified. I few kilometres outside Avilla we lost both sat nav and google navigation (on our mobile) and I had to get where we were going from memory. We’d been in prior contact with our host Pedro to give him our ETA and had his tel number and he came to our rescue, got us into the secure underground car park and helped us with our luggage via the lift to our 2nd floor apartment. Wow! It was spacious air conditioned and perfectly equipped. What we both appreciated was how well Pedro helped us, gave us useful information and he really did go out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We even arranged to meet his at 09.15 hours on the morning of our check out which was easiest for both to hand over the key etc. Out in the square there is a wide selection of bars cafes and restaurants literally on your doorstep where we enjoyed refreshing drinks and ate on our second evening. Our full day in Avilla was very likely the best on our trip, visiting the beautiful Cathedral, walking along the ancient city wall – X 2 adults only 10 euros including two guide headphones in English and well worth it – and finally a visit to the Museum of Saint Teresa de Jesus. All beautiful and inspiring. We cannot recommend this apartment more highly for a stay and when we return it is where we will book again. Thank you so, so much Pedro and everyone in Avila for your warmth and hospitality.”
