The hotel was beautifully decorated and offered a cosy charm. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and the bed was super comfortable! The food was delicious, fresh and generous portions and offered a lot of homemade dishes. The staff were really sweet and friendly and I felt very well looked after by them. Set on the foot of Astraka Mountain, the family-run Astraka Guesthouse II is an 1864 building located near the central square of Megalo Papigo village. Its stone-built rooms enjoy mountain views.
“Zagori is a very special place with beautiful nature and charming small mountain villages. In one of these villages, passing narrow stone-paved streets, you're getting to a traditional stone house, which actually is the Astraka II hotel. The room is very authentic, decorated in traditional style, but still very well equiped. Outside you can see the cattle-yard, mountains on the background, and feel a leisurely course of life of a small village. Hosts also own a restaurant nearby; they can offer you trekking, rafting and maybe some other entertainments. Breakfast are also good.”

“I had a amazing stay at this hotel in particular and in the region in general. Not only the hotel is perfect as for location, views and cleanliness, but the people behind the hotel Vangelis and Vasileia are wonderful. They are so friendly, always willing to help and making sure that you have everything you may need. The breakfast was fantastic ! The home made pastries are very tasteful. Make a diet before going there because you will not resist these pastries. On my second day, I wanted to hike till dragon lake which is around 4 hours walk from the hotel (megalo Papingko) and the weather was uncertain in the afternoon. I am so thankful to Vangelis who insisted to drop me to mikro Papingko (where the hiking path starts) and I saved 45 minutes in the morning which allowed me to make the hike and return absk to the hotel before the rain. I really appreciated that. In addition, on my last day, he dropped me free of charge to Ioannina and made sure to show me the way to the bus station and to the airport. Even if I only stayed for two nights, I felt at home at this place.”
