Well, you have to park your car about 5 minutes walk away, and the staff doesn't speak much English, but they make that up by their friendliness and helpfulness, and offering an outstanding accommodation and service for a very reasonable price. When we arrived at the door we were pretty dubious (as it is in a narrow alley in an ancient stone building) but once we stepped inside and walked up the stairs, our eyes dropped. “This really is a little house - I had more space than in my flat at home. The house is a couple of kilometres out of the centre of Ascoli, but unlike say Macerata or Fermo the centro storico isn't at the top of a massive hill, so it's a fairly easy walk. The kitchen was well equipped and the owner seemed to have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure I had everything I needed. There's a bakery just around the corner and a supermarket a few minutes walk away. There's also a train station nearby, so you can easily get to the coast in 30 minutes or so.”
