“I would thoroughly recommend staying at the Robert Inn. I originally intended to stay for one night but almost immediately opted for three nights due to how well I was greeted and looked after. I was picked up from the bus stand for free by Robert’s lovely daughters. Greeted with hot tea and lots of other lovely backpackers. All very comforting when you are travelling solo as a woman. I think what I loved most about staying here was how much I got to know Robert’s family, we bonded over cooking dinner together and spending evenings relaxing on property. I was incredibly sad to leave, and if I had more time would have stayed longer. My room was clean, had its own bathroom, fan, and a double for a really reasonable price. I think if you are travelling alone or in a group, this place is fantastic. I would encourage you to ask to learn some Sri Lankan cooking from Robert’s family as this was so lovely.”

“kasun was an excellent and funny host - he arranged a day tour of dambulla/sigiriya and polonnaruwa at extremely good value. The cost of a tuk tuk tour for an entire day would be the same or even less than getting a tuk tuk to and from the sites. Our driver was great and very friendly, showing us viewing spots and different fruit/nut trees and animals on the way. We also were the first guests to be taken to the minneryia museum - a weird and wonderful small museum full of stuffed animals. Room was comfortable and very clean - the A/C was very welcome after a day in the heat.
