“We loved our stay. The owner of Solar is lovely, kind and helpful. She made us feel at home and completely at ease. She is the best host we've ever had. The place is furbished tastefully and very pretty,with everything you need. The room was sparse, with comfortable bed,good quality furniture and beautiful views. Noise insulation was very good. The area is rural and you see or hear sheep and roosters which we found delightful. The bathroom was big and looked as if in a good hotel. The WiFi was good and free of charge. The room was cleaned daily very thoroughly. Breakfast was tasty and abundant. Helena baked a cake each day for breakfast! There were also ham, cheese, fruit, joghurt and fresh crispy buns etc. We will definitely visit the place again.”

“This is a hidden gem of a place for those who don't want the formality etc of a hotel and who are looking for good basic amenities at a reasonable price. The old house is full of character and the garden is a delight; it's a much loved and cared for space. It's a relaxing and quiet place with beautiful views of the valley and to the sea. Our en-suite room was in an annexe in the garden with a view to the valley and mountains. We did appreciate being able to use the shared kitchen from time to time. We felt free to come and go whenever we wanted to or just chill in the garden. The location is excellent for exploring the north coast. We frequently walked to the town and sea front where there are restaurants, shops etc. and walked a bit in the area too. We took the bus a couple of times but they are less frequent than in Funchal ... next time we'll rent a car! The owners couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant and did everything they could to make our stay a memorable one. I'm sure we'll be back!”

“Patricia and Pedro where there on our arrival. We had landed late but they where happy and greeted us and showed us round informing us of all the little things very nice welcome!!
